The Canandaigua location is a beautiful spot that had been on my visit list for a while. This is a lengthy review because I'm trying to be constructive with my criticism. Every con listed is fixable. The Pros: The homemade chips were top notch. My hot English breakfast tea was nice if not sort of out of place. The seasoned mayo on the "Irish" turkey sandwich was tasty. The Cons, so many Cons: So I came to grab a bite to eat, expecting something like Irish food. ### The Fish Taco It started nice, but the heat on this thing builds too quickly to be enjoyable. I like heat, but this thing just became inevitable by the end of the second taco. This was a real shame because it has a good base flavor. It could have used some more vegetables on it since it had red onion and fish. Save for the heat imbalance; this would have been a tasty dish. ### The Turkey Sandwich There was an "Irish" turkey sandwich that was supposed to have rashers on it. What arrived was a sight short of that target. The bacon was rubbery, so the only flavor came from the seasoned mayo, but if you didn't have that in a bite, it was just dull. - American bacon comes from the pork belly, which is called streaky bacon by some. So a full rack of British/Irish bacon is the pork loin with plenty of pork belly attached to it: the loin section is the rasher, and the belly is the streaky. The pork belly bacon we got was rubbery kind of like microwave bacon. The place was dead slow; there was no reason to mic the bacon. ### Slow kitchen We waited in a dead restaurant for 20 minutes for microwave bacon with turkey lunch meat and two fish tacos. Neither thing takes that long to cook. Perhaps it was the homemade chips that we waited on; they were actually worth the wait, so if so, then cool. ### The ambiance The kitchen had the back door open on a cold day, so the whole place was cold. So much so that our server was bundled up and patrons were commenting. 1990's rock was cool when I was 15, I guess, hardly pub tunes. This place felt cold (literally and figuratively) and unwelcoming when I came in. After eating here, I am sure I am not the target audience. This place appears to be more of a party spot than a pub. To some, that may be the same thing, but pubs are a bit more than that, and Irish pubs are certainly warmer affairs. ### The Menu in General Ok, I get that this is a chef-led "fusion" of Irish and American food, but let's not lie to ourselves about it. This food is nothing more than American food with green fonts, shamrocks, Guinness signs, and some Irish beers. The food was almost anything, but Irish save perhaps the fish and chips, which are available Friday and Saturday only. I didn't look at the menu before I came in, and I really should have. Same stuff I can get almost anywhere often for better value for money. The drink menu was nonsensical, having alcoholic drinks listed with nonalcoholic beverages. I know they were being cute by listing Root beer etc. with other beers, but it just isn't very functional. Fun side note, I got a hot tea (cold day and all), and they didn't even have Irish tea. Cracked me up to grab the English breakfast tea. I almost wanted to buy them a box of Twinings Irish breakfast tea just so they don't embarrass themselves on at least one front.

Great selection of food, drinks, etc. Always quiet, which is good if you're a last minute person. I just don't think they get the credit due to them. Staff is always friendly and helpful. The signature spice bag was good. Plenty of parking. Plenty of seating at the bar and in restaurant. Definitely recommend to try. Could they try some better options like some other local bar and grills? Sure. But this it traditional bar/pub food and it hits the spot.

We stopped in for a drink on a Friday late evening after a suggestion from the front desk staff at the hotel we were at. We sat at the bar. The bartender was friendly and attentive. I think her name was Patty. We didn’t eat anything but there was a limited menu available. There were my many people in when we got there but then a few groups came in later. The atmosphere was dark but energetic. Gave me college bar vibes. We had an enjoyable time.

My wife and I went to the Canandaigua restaurant weekly prior to Murphy's opening up. When they opened we continued to go till they My wife and I went to the Canandaigua restaurant weekly prior to Murphy's opening up. When they opened we continued to go till they went to a limited wine and menu which, understanding was in the winter. We've been back on occasion but not as frequent and as of last night in Canandaigua, never again unless changes are made in both service and menu. When we arrived there we had room to sit at the bar which we enjoy. There were only 6 others at the bar at the time so social distancing was good. The two girls running the bar, a blonde and brunette were running around as though they were lost for service and had to wait on a full bar saying it's so busy here? The blonde had her mask off working on the computer. Finally, after sitting for about 10 minutes, they asked what we wanted to drink and we got that but they were out of red wine glasses. We ordered a snack first after about 15 minutes, only because neither bothered to ask if we wanted anything to eat. Oh by the way they had a sign on the wall stating that if you wanted to drink you had to order food! We wanted to order food and were told at that time they only 8 items of fry food which was now being served due to Covid-19? I spoke briefly with the brunette,(neither of the bartenders gave their name of introducing which has never happened before either). I told the brunette politely that if possible they need to change their web site and she copped an attitude toward us and walked off. In all the restaurants we've been in, this type of experience has never happened. The waitress or bartender then started to take the menu's away from us. We stopped her wanting to look at the menu again, pretty limited and unappealing! But, we ordered something after being addressed about 15 minutes later. In between all this time one of the girls mother came in and more attention was spent on them than anyone else at the bar....real nice for service, not! After ordering we noted that they were delivering hamburgers and other foods to another table outside, after telling us only fried food. Terrible experience and won't ever happen again because we won't go there and won't recommend anyone to go as well! I asked for the tab and my wife and I were just about to leave and some rude guys came in, friends of the bartenders. One guy made a very nasty comment and if I wasn't as old as I am or smaller than the guy something would of been said to him. He had a very foul mouth saying it smelled like d_ _ k in here and dropped a few F bombs, the staff laughed and said nothing to him. The owners need to train their staff, the public in and around Canandaigua need to be aware that you have a limited menu and after 8 your only serving fried food (8 items). It's summer in Canandaigua and ridiculous that this is your service line or lack of! Your web sight misleads anyone looking with interest in going to this establishment. We are long time year round residents of Canandaigua and go out with many friends to support our local restaurants, it's really sad that this restaurants doesn't follow tradition of other restaurants in our town! I've spent 28 years in the hospitality industry and this place is pathetic to say the least!! We, too, are business people and hope that management reads and appreciates...

Had lunch with my family here on Sunday 3/24/19. Our server wasn't overly friendly, but I didn't give it much thought. She didn't return to our table after the food was delivered to see how things were or if we needed anything. We had to flag another server down to ask for the dipping sauce that didn't come out with one of the meals and again for drink refills. The soda refills came, but the 2 of us that ordered water never got a refill on our water. Still no huge deal. The food was good. The bill came and because we had another engagement to head to, I handed her the card and she processed payment. MY mistake for not looking at the bill to ensure accuracy. I went to sign for payment and noticed we were charged for an extra meal no one had ordered. The server voided my payment and gave me a voided receipt along with a new receipt with the correct charge. My account was charged the correct amount on Monday 3/25. Today I received a notification from my bank that my account is overdrawn. What?!? That's not correct. I looked into it and the original (incorrect) amount was charged to my account today, placing my account into a negative balance. I called and the young lady was apologetic, but said it takes several days for a refund to go through. What doesn't make sense is the charge was processed today 3/27, not Monday with the other charge. I asked if my bank charges me an over draft fee, will they cover that. They'll need to check with the accountant. Really? That shouldn't just be a given? I was told that this should clear up in a "few days". Um ok, so in the mean time, my account is now overdrawn and I can't use my checking account. No offer to have the owner call me. No, "this is what we can do to make things right for you". No, "Come in and have a meal on us for the inconvenience we've caused you." Nope. Nothing. I just have to suck it up and let my account stay in an overdraft status for a few days and have no access to my checking account. Awesome! 1st and last time we'll be...
