Pretty poor experience.
Shortly after being seated, we were asked how we were temperature wise, to which we said 'perfect, thanks for asking.' The server then proceeded to turn on the AC and it became quite cold. Had to ask twice to turn off.
The food came on cold serving plates, individual plates were also cold and one wet. The food then of course became cold quickly - taste was OK. Beer was served without removing empty glasses. One of the sides was wrong, but reasonably quickly replaced.
We had ordered for a large combo and asked our server to just serve us half and pack the other half to go, to which he said no problem. It turned out the entire platter was served and we were told we could pack half of it ourselves as the kitchen was too busy to pack for us. The restaurant was handling both eat in and to go orders at the same time, so apparently not too busy that they couldn't pack for others, but too busy to pack for us.
There are other good BBQ choices in Corning and nearby. No reason to head back here.
Just some edits/facts to address the reply: 'Packing for us' was only mentioned after we had already packed our food. We were the only ones seated in the upstairs area where the AC was, so yes, it was all about us, especially as we had two elderly people with us who are especially sensitive to cold obviously. The feedback to the server was about the restaurant, at no point was it about any of them as a person and there was no yelling, so I"m not sure where the verbal abuse was. Admittedly one party member commented 'well, you should have thought about it' once, but that's the only time that a person was mentioned directly and pretty far from verbal abuse.
Not sure how else the restaurant would have wanted to receive feedback. I would have hoped they would have come back with 'sorry about the experience, let's try to make it better,' but reading the other responses, I guess...
Read moreMy wife and I ordered the ribs, and they were delicious. But the service from both the waitstaff and manager were what you would expect at a restaurant rated 2 stars or below. We did not feel welcomed in this establishment. I chose to give this place 3 stars only because the food was so good. But the service does not deserve even one star, and made Denny's feel like a high-service restaurant. The staff were rude and impatient. A few examples of their indifference to the customer include:
When I asked if there were any specials, the waitress said, "Yeah, the chopped lunch." I asked her to tell me more, expecting to hear if it came with sides, and the price. Instead, the reply I received was, "It's chopped. It's beef." She then walked away before I could follow up.
My wife and I were sharing a dish, and asked for an extra plate. When the waitress returned, she didn't even make eye contact or say anything to the table, and just tossed two plates towards the center of the table. We had to catch them or else they would have slid right off the table.
The manager came around asking people how their food was. In the most robotic voice, she briefly stood next to each table and asked, "How is everything? Good." When she came to our table, we started by saying that the ribs were delicious. But before I could say anything more, she had said, "Good,' and was already off to the next table. She had no intention of hearing what the customers had to say. She was simply making her rounds as quickly...
Read moreIm not sure what everyone is talking about. This is not southern bbq. Unless i went on an off day i dont know how to explain what i had.
I am from the south and know decent bbq. When we pulled up to this place it has a sign that says let us put the taste of the south in your mouth. That sign was a lie.
For one the ribs are not smoked. What i got appeared to be boiled then thrown on a grill or flat top. I asked the lady are your ribs dry rubbed she replied yes. What i received were ribs covered in sauce with no hint of a rub on them. There was 5 of us dining and another person got the ribs and they were the same way.
My wifes brisket was chopped and appeared to be smoked. She ate half of the brisket and said there just wasnt any flavor. I tryed it and she was right. I had to smother it in sauce to give it flavor.
I asked the lady what sodes she recommends she replied macaroni salad. I got the mac salad and there was absolutely zero flavor. My coleslaw must have come out of a jug because it mediocre. Also weird they dont have mac and cheese. Never been to a bbq place that doesnt have mac and cheese. I got the cornbread with my meal and i use corn bread very loosely with this place. It was moist but zero flavor.
I hate giving small places like this bad reviews, but i had not choice. For 4 dinners and a childs hotdog my bill was 73.00. I felt so ripped off after leaving this place.
My recommendation is go to the pizza hut next door and save a...
