If this isn't the most helpful hint for what's wrong with the service at this place, then I don't know if they're ever going to get it. The staff there hate their jobs. Not sure why. Doesn't seem like that bad of a job, but during downtime they are very vocal about how much they hate their jobs which then manifests into antagonism towards customers. It's difficult to say exactly what will trigger a unified front from the staff toward any given customer, but the experience will definitely leave you wondering. It could be that they feel slighted by people wearing masks or that they've never had any other real jobs and so are having a difficult time processing the fact that they are at work, but the fact is that at some point or another, the staff will, to their credit, band together to deliver bad service to one customer. This isn't just my experience. When you're done reading this, go and check out the other negative reviews. The fact is, no one goes here for the food or the coffee. Every local is aware that they can get everything on the menu at Wegman's and just make it yourself at home. So if service is what you're selling, then maybe talk to your staff and let them know that there won't be a place for them to hang out at if it's closed because people realize that things are bad enough in the world without a barista taking their frustrations out on your tea. And if the response this gets from management is in defense of any part of this negative review, start...
Read moreA quaint exterior and beautiful nearby Seneca Lake portend what should be a wonderful coffee experience. However, my first (and last) visit to this coffee shop demonstrate that misery can abound in even the most unlikely places. The coffee was very good, but was served with a total sneer--pretty much the worst customer service I can recall having in recent memory. The clientele honestly seemed as equally unhappy as the barista. The unhappiness level was in the air. It was palpable. What gives? Is there something in the water in Geneva? Is this attitude the result of an ancient Seneca curse on coffee brewers? I don't know...but what I do know is that, as an enthusiast who prides himself on seeking out the best coffee shops in out of the way places, I'd fire that employee in a heartbeat (who was also providing training, mind you)...not only did she give my coffee a bad after taste, as an unwitting ambassador of Geneva to this newcomer, she gave the entire town a cast it may not deserve.
ETA: Thank you for reaching out. My wife and daughter visited an hour before you closed last Monday, 5/9. We were served by a short brunette. There were two other workers, but they were/seemed under the gal who took my order. It was my second time through Geneva, but my first time stopping anywhere...
Read moreWe went to pick up coffee while visiting the town. My dad and I had masks on and when we approached the counter the girl yelled- social distancing, which is fine but we are together and cannot see the menu. She yelled this a couple more times to the people behind us, even though there are tables right next to the line and people are seated close together. But I do respect her attempt to make the place safer for everyone. The kicker is when I asked for packets of sugar, she directed me to the side table where the sugar is in big open communal bowls right next to the dirty dishes. Before telling everyone else to obey rules, maybe the shop can practice safer standards first.
However right next door is a new bakery by the name-Coming soon. Once you open the door, the heavenly scent of fresh broad baking pulls and traps you in.... they have the freshest treats I have ever had! Since I am in a sour dough baking era, I asked their baker- Beth for tips and she left her stop to tell me all her tricks! It was such a difficult decision to pick a few treats. I...
