We came at 6 pm on a Sunday with a group of 9- 6 adults, 1 kid, 1 one year old, and 1 baby. We live three-ish hours away in opposite directions and were spending the weekend in the area to celebrate two birthdays.
We chose this restaurant due to requests of sushi, Thai food, and bubble tea and this place checked all the boxes. When we arrived we were a bit apprehensive because it’s so small inside- maybe 7 or 8 tables and a bar/sushi counter. But immediately upon entering someone came over, moved tables around, and brought us a high chair. Everyone was seated comfortably and happily.
Service was prompt. We ordered a LOT of food- bubble tea, beer, 6 appetizers, 4 entrees, 6 sushi rolls. Everything was excellent. The peanut sauce is perhaps the best I ever had, and I live in a large urban area. Everyone was impressed with the freshness and flavor of the food.
But the star of the show was our server, Oh. She was personable, funny, AMAZING with our kiddos, and truly went above and beyond for us. She even brought out dessert with a lit candle, joined us in singing happy birthday, and posed with the birthday girl. She is truly a light. Oh made our day and we cannot stop talking about the hospitality, friendliness, relatability, and humor she brought us. Even if the food wasn’t awesome, it’d be worth going here for her service (but thankfully, the is delicious too!)
Thank you all for a wonderful dinner! You made our special occasion even...
Read moreThis was my second time enjoying the food from Sweet Rice. I ordered delivery last month and wanted to try a dine in experience. I visited this spot for years in its previous role as Sam's Diner. They did a really nice job updating the space - cute, modern, and a warm vibe. For my dine in experience, I was with a group of four other adults for a Sunday lunch. Waitstaff was friendly, helpful, and present - swapping out old dishes for new, refilling beverages, and available without hovering. The dishes were all good - pictures below include sushi, Thai fried dumplings, crab Rangoon, shrimp pancakes, Drunken Noodles, Fried Rice (I may have missed a couple). All of it was well made (although the dumplings really are just lacking flavor I think), but nothing jumped out at us with a wow factor. Total before tip was $150 for this spread, comparable to other similar places in the area. I do have my favorite spot for this type of food, however, and I don't think I have been...
Read moreSuch a cute little place! We loved this experience. I'd been wanting to try it for awhile and regret not coming to dine here sooner. The service was very friendly, attentive, and quick. I had the Rama Garden with chicken and my daughter had the Crazy Mango sushi roll but asked for crab stick instead of the tempura shrimp it came with. We had miso soup and crab rangoon as apps. The flavors of everything, including the miso soup, were bolder and more complex than other similar food we have tried in the area. We had Thai iced tea and water and our water glasses never got below half full before they were topped off again with a friendly smile. When we ordered, I asked for a take-out pho order for my son. It arrived with the check, neatly packaged, noodles and toppings separate from the broth. Portions were large and food was all very fresh and beautifully presented. This will be ranked among our top favorite places to go in the...
