I'm giving this a 5 for the food and the chef but, overall I'd rate the whole experience a 4. What's important is the actual restaurant and it's food. We did the 7 course chef tasting. To begin: it was actually 10 courses when you factor in the bread, palate cleanser and dessert. Many of the dishes were unbelievable and unforgettable with very innovative (and delicious) flavor combinations. Some were forgettable but, the summary for me was a big thumbs up. We have had the pleasure of experiencing a variety of chef's tastings over the years in different locals with different calibers of chefs. This one (in my opinion) is an amazing hidden gem in the area. I would suggest running there now. I have a feeling, in a few years that a similar experience from this chef may not be so attainable. You can say you tried it when. . . . Now for the 4 star part: No wine pairings offered (though the wine list was decent). Cocktails were a let down. My Manhattan was assaulted in the shaker and another's Sangria was a total miss. Also, the restaurant seems forgotten by the hotel. Our res was for 7 on a Saturday night. There was a wedding concealed in a ballroom but, the hotel lobby was dead with the exception of a questionable party requesting on repeat the chorus line of Lean on Me. For the caliber of the chef, I would have expected a blinking marquee lighting our way to the restaurant (it was that good). Instead we had to ask the front desk. Only to arrive in the restaurant and literally stand at the hostess station for 10 minutes for someone to help us. The upper portion of the restaurant with the hostess stand was completely empty. We were noticed by a few servers. One acknowleged us and said someone would help us shortly but, ultimately we waited for 10 minutes. Finally seated in the "belly" of the restaurant that only had 2 other tables. Personally, I think the Hotel is missing a huge marketing opportunity...
Read moreI dined here with a companion the same evening a bad storm had just hit town. I was staying at the Queensbury Hotel. Part of the region was without power. Fortunately, downtown Glens Falls still had electricity. The restaurants downtown got swamped with customers and were completely at capacity, with long waiting lists of hungry folks who had no power at home. Park 26, located inside the very same hotel at which I was staying, however, had plenty of available tables. It was half-empty! What good luck, we thought! Unfortunately, the hostess kept trying to turn us away without explicitly telling us to leave. She kept trying to avoid seating us, simply walking away at times and acting busy. She also told us how if we chose to eat there, we'd spend far too much time waiting for our food. She even tried to convince us to go to the other hotel restaurant. Fortunately, the couple behind us told us not to do that, as the other hotel restaurant truly was overwhelmed to the point that any table that wasn't full was otherwise covered in dirty dishes. Seeing as how our options were limited and we were hungry, we stuck around and managed to maintain a cheerful attitude despite the situation. The hostess succeeded in getting others to turn around, but finally gave in to our patience after close to half an hour and seated us, scowling as she did so. A lovely server soon came over to our table. She was so sweet and friendly! She told us that it was more hectic than they were prepared for, but she and the kitchen would do their best. She did great! And so did the kitchen. The food was delicious! I'm glad we stuck around. But, I can't get past how unpleasant the hostess was and how badly she wanted us to leave. She was even unpleasant on our way out. Anyhow, this is a nice restaurant with good food. If you're staying at the hotel and don't mind risking an unpleasant hostess, this may be a good...
Read moreAte here for the first time with friends. The service was stellar, our waiter visited to check up on us at the best times possible, didn't hover and let us take our time between appetizers, entrees, and dessert. And the food we ordered was delicious. The meatballs (a favorite of mine) were served in a cast iron pan, smothered with gooey cheese and sauce, to die for. The steak frites dish was amazing as well. All of our meals were cooked to perfection - the vegetables and salmon in the himalayan red rice bowl were so flavorful. Plenty of food to go with our yummy drinks. The new menu is out, and served in both restaurants at the Queensbury Hotel. I will be back, for sure. I want to go when the igloos are out this winter! Dessert was the daily creme brulee and a slice of cheescake. The flatbread was the best I have had - and I've ordered a lot of flatbread! Crispy crust, just enough cheese and sauce. The pepperoni was the cherry on top! We went home with...
