As a returning guest, I want to begin by saying how much we’ve enjoyed your hotel over the years. Whether it’s been a one-night stay or a longer ten-day visit, we’ve consistently found the ambiance, your amenities, and especially the indoor pub and restaurant to be fantastic.||Unfortunately, this most recent visit was a significant departure from the experiences we’ve come to expect and enjoy.||My family and I (two adults and three children) were in town for a soccer tournament. Due to our last game ending late on Saturday evening, we decided to stay the night rather than drive back to Plattsburgh. Upon arrival, we were surprised to find our room only had two queen beds—despite the reservation being clearly made for five people.||When I approached the front desk to request a larger or more suitable room, I was told none were available. A small cot was brought to the room, and we were advised to place it between the beds. Understandably, this was not a viable option for a family of five. With limited alternatives available and the hour being late, we had no choice but to make the best of an uncomfortable situation.||To make matters worse, one of the key reasons we chose to stay at The Queensbury was the pool—something my children were especially looking forward to. Sadly, it was closed both that evening and the following morning, which left them incredibly disappointed.||Later that evening, whilst my wife and I were seated in the pub for dinner, a front desk agent kindly offered us adjoining rooms (432–434) to make up for the situation. While the gesture was appreciated, the timing was frustrating. I had originally requested a better room earlier—before we unpacked—which would have made all the difference. Instead, transferring our belongings from Room 415 took me over 40 minutes, which disrupted our evening and led to my food being cold by the time I returned. and my wife upset that i just left her for so long .What was meant to help ended up further diminishing our experience.||Additionally, I want to express concern about the state of the elevator and nearby hallways. There was a strong odor of marijuana in the lift and the corridors—something I’ve never encountered before at your hotel and certainly not what I would expect during a family-oriented, Mother’s Day weekend stay.||Please know that I’m writing not to simply complain, but because we truly love your hotel, our home in Plattsburgh was built the exact same year as your hotel, 1926. We’ve recommended it to others in the past and genuinely want to continue returning in the future. However, this experience left us disappointed and disheartened.||I hope you’ll take this feedback constructively and let me know how you plan to address the situation.||Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you.||Best regards,||Anthony Christodoulou||Guest, Room...
Read moreI had my September 2022 wedding here so we got to know the Queensbury Hotel very well! I can account for multiple interactions with many of the staff throughout the year and what a breath of fresh-air. Everyone there seems to care about their job and you as their patron. It starts at the front desk with Charley and a woman with dark hair and glasses (I'm sorry I forgot your name :( ) they were both so accommodating and welcoming at each visit. I needed a fridge for my maid of honor and by the time she got back to her room, it was there. The hotel layout is bright and spacious in the front lobby and my only complaint would be the access to the pool. You have to walk past the business offices and then down a flight of stairs to get there. Hopefully they will allow key access on the main floor doors some day.
With it being an older hotel the doors to the rooms are quite heavy. Our first few nights before the wedding, we were in a wing with another wedding party and had trouble sleeping with the door noise throughout the night. I was very grateful for the heater/ac unit in the rooms. It had a 'constant fan' option, which helped drown out some of the noise without freezing or heating us up all night. Leading up to the wedding, we were assisted mainly by Becca. She has such a welcoming demeanor when we met in person and very bubbly nature. She accommodated us with a tasting a few months beforehand and went through our wedding checklist line-by-line. The beginning stages of a wedding are very overwhelming with all the decisions one has to make but, Becca excelled in helping guide us through that process. She did a wonderful job returning emails (as I'm sure her in-box never gets a break) and responded with thorough detail to all of my questions. Upon the wedding weekend, she met us with a big hug and smile and made us feel like family. She helped my husband and I every step of the way come wedding day; from getting a ladder to decorate the mantle, to spreading gems on the reception tables after I did a walk through and realized they were not there. She was encouraging when I was breaking down during the first look with my Dad, she held my dress when we had to walk outside and she always asked "how can I help". Every corner we turned there was a drink in our hands. When we went outside to do our wedding photos she brought us each a bottle of water. It is these small details that meant the most to us! I hope you read this Becca, the day would not have been the same with anyone else.
We had a few hiccups leading up to the event with some of the managers in different departments. We received assistance from the GM in helping to mediate these problems and he couldn't have been a nicer gentleman. We were very impressed with how Tyler handled the situation.
When the reception dinner began, our celebration was in the hands of Wayne. He too did an amazing job! He helped delegate our guests on where to sit and when the buffet was open for each table. He was prompt with 'band-aid' assistance when my son cut his hand and he too would find us frequently and ask "how can I help". At the end of the reception he assured us our wedding decor would be gathered together and placed on a table for us to pick up at our convenience. They stored our wedding cake and extras in the fridge, which they allowed us to pick up the next day with ease. Every one of the servers/bartenders in our reception were gracious to us and our guests and did everything with a smile. There was never a shortage of food options or flavor. The food!! You will not be disappointed with any choice from the menu and this extended to our cocktail and reception spread. We cannot say enough about the staff here at the hotel. They turned a dream into a reality. I am still getting messages from my guests raving about the elegance of my Wedding, the ease of which they got food and drink and how delicious every bit was. Thank you from the bottom...
Read moreI really did enjoy our stay at the Queensbury, The hotel is quaint and beautiful and hopefully they will finish restoring it properly.
We stayed for 3 nights from 8/23-8/26/2013.
The beds were very comfortable, our room was HUGE and clean!
The bathrooms need work, the grout is yellow and needs to be redone, the shower was terrible, there was hardly any pressure and there is only a small soap dish to hold all the things a woman needs in a shower. It was awkward, one of those hangers that hang around the shower head would solve this problem. I can also see someone having a problem with the lack of counter space in the bathroom for toiletries, We managed. There was no tub for us to give our son a bath and the shower would have been impossible, we were lucky we had family we were visiting so we used their tub.
The half bathroom in the adjoining living room could also use some new grout and it looked like the towel rack had broken off at some point and had not been fixed. it just did not look nice.
I loved the charm of the room with the crown molding and the beautiful old doors with the glass knobs.
The wall paper was peeling off the walls in some spots high up, and the carpet needs replacing or a really deep cleaning.
The couch in the living room was so comfy that if it would have fit in my car I would have taken it home!
The fridge in the wet bar looked like it was from the 1980's and had more frost in the freezer than I have ever seen. But it worked and that’s a good thing!
There were a bunch of outlets in the room, and in this age of technology that’s great but we had to leave our stuff on the floor so that we could charge it because there was no table by the available outlets. A small telephone table by the outlets or even a power strip by the desk would have worked.
The staff that we encountered were all really nice and accommodating. Except at 4:30 am when I was suffering a migraine and could not find an Advil anywhere. I suggest that the staff either keep some things at the front desk in case of situations like this or that the vending machine on the first floor be stocked. The man that I spoke to at the front desk suggested I go to that vending machine, so I did and found snacks and shaving cream my only choices. Also, someone was doing some sort of banging on our floor at 8:30 am on Sunday. I was sensitive because of my headache, but I am sure that whatever he was doing could have waited a couple more hours.
The only other suggestions is in the lobby some of the sofas are in need of reupholstering.
The buffet at the restaurant on the weekends was really great, not only was the price very reasonable, but the food and variety was excellent, the wait staff that took care of us was also wonderful!! When we were there on Sunday morning there was a waitress that was there, that I was very glad that she was not serving us. She seemed to have an attitude and when she was asked by the hostess to do something, she took her time while the other waitress and hostess efficiently hopped around and did everything. She also ordered the omelet chef around loudly and with attitude in front of customers.
The pool and hot tub were clean and nice.
My husband and I would gladly stay at this hotel again. It...
