Such a beautiful theater. It's neat and clean, and intimate, with seating for approximately 294 people. The acoustics are very good in the theater and I don't believe that there is a bad seat in the house. There's a great PA system unlike some of the smaller intimate theaters locally, where if you're in the back of the theater, you can't hear. That's not the case here. They really do offer quite a variety of shows for the young and old alike. They have beer and wine which is nice, and unlike some of the other theaters where you have to drink it before you go in to the theater, you are allowed to bring it to your seat, which is a HUGE plus. The theater is in the old Woolworth's building, so not only is it historical, but they've tried to keep some of the charm from the building. Woolworths had a luncheonette counter inside the building back in it's day, and the sign from Woolworth's luncheonette is displayed in the theater lobby, and it's in relatively excellent condition. The restrooms are in the basement, which can be a challenge for seniors and individuals with mobility issues. However, there is an elevator that will bring you down to the lower level to use the restrooms if you are not able to master the stairs. A gem worth a visit from anywhere, and definitely a...
Read moreRating the physical theater only. Not the production itself. The screening and entry process was chaotic and confusing. We were not sure which line to be in. Folks were walking around with clipboards outside the theater and others were sitting inside at a table. We spoke to someone with a clipboard who asked us screening questions and gave us a slip of paper. We got in line, a one that lead inside to a table with some people sitting at it. Then we also saw a line going to tickers takers and the interior doors that lead to seats. Thinking we were screened, we left the first line to get in the second line show our tickets. Wrong. We needed to goto the table first to give our slip of paper and make sure we were in the computer. There were no concessions. Not even water. We haven't been to The Wood in a couple of years, and maybe the time away allowed us to forget, however the space between each row of seats is very narrow. I am short and my knees were pushing against the seatback in front of me. We are glad live theater is back in Glens Falls. We enjoyed the show, unfortunately not the...
Read moreTheatre chairs are a little too close for knee room, and we are small people, so I am sure it is uncomfortable for large or tall people. We saw "The Secret Garden". Mary, the young girl, was phenomenal. She knew most all her lines without really needing to carry the book around. I think it's the 1st play/musical I have ever been to where all the participants needed their books to perform. I just thought maybe since it was only a 2 day play, they didn't put forth a lot of time for practice, which is totally understandable. We will definitely go to other performances here. Overall, all the...
