12/27 around 12pm. Made a total detour for Sul&Beans because I really wanted it before I left California (I live out of state and there are no Sul&Beans). I waited 15 minutes in the parking lot for them to open at 12pm. A little past noon, I walked in with another customer who briefly left when they saw it wasn’t quite open yet. I stayed and waited for another 8 minutes for an employee. I was confused because the door was unlocked, the phone was ringing (it rang three times in the time I was waiting in the front), and I had seen an employee getting ready to open. Two more customers joined me. Finally, a young man came out from the back totally unaware that there were customers waiting. All he said was, “Look at the sign. We’re not open yet.” I replied that it was already 12:08 and THE BUSINESS DOOR said they opened at noon (as well as Google, Yelp, etc). He said, “Those hours are when there are TWO employees. It’ll be AT LEAST another 30 minutes to open.” I understand that it is stressful to work by yourself but to open 40 minutes past opening time with absolutely NO WARNING is, in my opinion, ridiculous. Also, if the employee wasn’t so rude and was apologetic then I would’ve been much more understanding. Anyway, they should write that on the door then, “There’s only one employee so we’ll open late.” Ridiculous. I watched that employee turn away another group of people before I left. I am disappointed about the bingsoo, but more than that, I’m upset at the way I was treated for entering the establishment when I thought they would be open (because they should’ve been open). I will never be returning to this location. I know my review won’t make a difference to their business but I just want...
Read moreKorean bingsoo 🍧 has always been a fancy looking dessert. Anyways, I would like to talk about the place first. There are multiple Sul & Beans branches and this review is specifically for the one in Rowland Heights. The place is clean and pretty cozy for group hangouts. However it may not be as suitable for remote work, you'd probably be better off going to Starbucks for that because it can get really loud in here when the place is packed. The seats are also arranged pretty close together, so just keep that in mind.
Let's get started with the desserts:
Taro Bingsoo : Not bad. For those of you that have never had bingsoo. Think of it like smoothies but with reduced sweetness, not because they aren't sweet but because they are served with a mountain of shaved ice. I love the rice cake that came with it (my favorite part of any bingsoo, I love chewy food). 😏 As for the flavor, I thought they were natural enough, so cheers to that (artificial flavors? Boo to that!).
Injeolmi Toast: I think I prefer the one in Koreatown because I thought the bread were too burnt in this branch (could just be the fact that I came at prime time and they had too many orders to serve). As a result, they didn't taste chewy and just tasted really sweet. Not great.
Overall, I think if you would like to get some desserts, you can take bingsoo into your consideration, and if you chose Sul & Beans and would like to also try their awesome toast? I would recommend the Koreatown branch due to the better toast...

I walked in and saw the worker asking the customer "is this the right bingsoo?"(as if she is guessing lol). Then she took my order, which was wrong (she was busy dealing with other customer at the same time) and handed us two wrong bingsoo, then handed us one rignt bingsoo. But I ordered two bingsoo LOL. Turns out she only put in and charged me for one bingsoo, but she said I have mistaken when I was ordering. I didn't bothered buy another bingsoo there since they also had customer who found hair in their taiyaki (no hair cap, no hair tie).
That was.. enough chaos for the day. I will just go to other bingsoo place...
