The service was very good. We were promptly seated after locating the hostess station in the rear of the restaurant. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. Was quick to the table and getting our drink orders. The drinks were not very good. I ordered the maple smoked old fashion that was presented very well but tasted extremely watered down. My wife ordered a martini that tasted very good but the drink size portion was small considering they placed 3 large olives in the glass which occupied a lot of space. Our other two friends had wine and beer which were satisfactory. The appetizers were the pretzels sticks, wagu beef tartare and a spicy tuna roll. All of them tasted very good. The dinners orders were tasty. But came out extremely fast after the appetizers. Unfortunately the portions were on the smaller size for the larger price tags. The lobster pot pie, which was more along the lines of a bowl of lobster bisque with a crostini on top, my Ahi tuna which was a small piece of tuna very nicely prepared served over what tasted like the Cardamom Sticky Rice which was slightly dried out, the burger which was very fairly priced came well cooked with a nice side of onion rings and the Wild Mushroom Truffle raviolis which were very good and a decent portion. We ordered two desserts for the table an awesome ice cream cookie sandwich plate and a dismantled Smores plate which again came well presented but the marshmallow was extremely tough and chewy and had an extremely amount of smoke flavor which slightly over powered the dessert. Over all the restaurant was a busy bustling restaurant with a very nice ambiance. The bar appeared to be very crowded as we entered. We left feeling the food tasted ok, nothing spectacular, but nothing horrible. The pricing was definitely high especially for the special drinks and has a very NYC atmosphere. We felt that while the service was good it was a bit rushed considering we literally sat, drank, ate apps, dinner and dessert under 1.5 hrs. Basically we still had apps on the table and the dinner arrived. It could be slowed down a bit. Average experience for the above...
Read moreI loved the outdoor seating at this restaurant; it is very inviting and surrounded by cozy lanterns. Our hostess was lovely and we were seated quickly. Our server was also wonderful. We decided to get a bunch of different appetizers. Lobster dumplings, bao buns, Kobe sliders, and short rib Thai dumplings. Dessert was campfire s’mores. The lobster dumplings were very good, but the presentation was even better. The short rib dumplings were ok; I wish they’d had a separate ramekin of dipping sauce; rather than seating the dumplings in a shallow platter of said sauce. The Kobe sliders were awful and dry. The Patty as well as the roll. There was barely any sauce on the sliders and the toppings were crudely chopped and unappealing- probably not me if the worst burgers I’ve ever had. The bao buns weren’t those white squishy pillows of deliciousness that I was absolutely craving. They were brown and dry, and the prick wasn’t particularly appetizing; it could have used some sauce or seasoning. Not a fan. The campfire s’mores dessert was awful. I understand they are trying to give a campfire vibe- but s’mores font taste Smokey- this dessert was so smoky and inedible to me. I was also under the impression it would be s’mores ice cream. This was a tiny cookie(that did not taste like Graham cracker) a scoop of chocolate ice cream- 2 brûléed marshmallows. And although the menu states ganache- theirs had hersheys syrup on it. It sucked. I gave this place 4 stars because I loved the menu items. There are so many tasty sounding items. They really need to work on execution. Cocktails were delicious!!! Ambiance was wonderful. I’ll go back- buy definitely would not get the sliders , bao...
Read moreIt's just ok....When entering the restaurant, you walk directly into the bar area, but need to maneuver from the front to the back in order to meet the hostess and be seated. This is not immediately obvious, so we initially stood at the front for several minutes until I spotted a tiny hostess stand. This is directly next to the kitchen and the bathrooms, so my husband and I were awkwardly standing in the crossfire of a busy section of the restaurant while waiting to be seated. The menu offers no clear cuisine focus, but has a lot of interesting options, but be warned, little is offered for vegetarian or vegan diets-We were given an order of duck fat fries to start. They were tasty, well seasoned, but clearly not for all dietary needs. We ordered the short rib Thai dumplings, Ahi tuna and strip steak. They never served the dumplings, forgot them, but not charged for them. The ahi tuna was cooked well, but served with an overly sweet ponzu sauce, the steak was cooked well, but way over salted. The was the first time I’ve ever seen my husband either not finish his steak or not request to have it boxed up to go. The waitstaff were friendly and attentive. You will be charged a surcharge if you use your credit card, which is not indicated on the original check. The Brickmans decor, hence its name, gives a nice nod to local history and industry, but otherwise has the feel of a restaurant one would see that is attached to a chain hotel. I hate to say it, overall, it's an elevated Applebees. Some are going to really enjoy this place, others...
