Actually 5 isn’t high enough! What can I say? Food? Excellent! Service? Excellent! Decor/Vibe? Excellent! We were visiting some friends in the area and decided to have lunch at the Tavern. We were greeted and seated by a very kind and personable gentleman. He was super accommodating! The bar had a great selection of juices and cocktails. I actually had a coffee, which was brewed fresh just for us and was delicious. Calamari? A hit! You also can’t go wrong with the truffle fries. We enjoyed a unique appetizer, Sesame Cauliflower Bites. Pretty tasty. The entree selection was great. I had the grilled chicken and avocado sandwich, my friends and hubby had the grilled cheese with tomato soup special. Very good all around. Special shout out to Jordan, our server. Probably one of the most accommodating, helpful, articulate servers I’ve ever had! She even helped with a quick pic of some of the other food we enjoyed before placing it on the table. Thank you again! Pricing was very reasonable also, which can be tricky in this day and age. The bathrooms were immaculate and smelled great. Anyways… when you’re in Kingston or anywhere within 2 hours of this small charming town, make your way to the Tavern! It’s worth every moment!

It was an extremely busy day, so I found the Front Street Tavern. I sat at the bar, and the environment was good; the bartender was very responsive. She suggested the Bang Bang Shrimp. I selected one of their specials, sword fish with asparagus. They had no dark beers, which wasn't great. I got it . IPAs are popular, but get some stouts or porters!!! I digress, the bang bang shrimp (pictured) had a LOT of sauce on it, good taste but too much. The shrimp was also overcooked. Next came the swordfish... I could taste the grill on the asparagus, but nothing else, I added salt. There was a sauce on the plate (pictured), but it didn't really go well with anything on the plate. The swordfish was way overcooked and rubbery. Then, the potatoes were grainy. The bartender asked me my opinion, and I told her, so she gave me a free desert. The ice-cream was good, the cookie it was on was good, together not so much. Then, after it was all done $69 without the desert. I have been here before for lunch, it was much better so I am going with an off night. All of the ingredients were there for an amazing meal, just poorly executed. I might try again, probably not though. Too much for too little.

Great place for a cute date in historic uptown Kingston! Got a nice booth by the bar, cool atmosphere, and great drinks. We really enjoyed the food too! The Calamari was super delicious and well seasoned, served with some tasty marinara. The NY strip was perfectly temped served with a delicous chimichurri, fingerling potatos, and broccoli rabe. My date had the Lobster Fettucini, which was fantastic and had a generous ammout of lobster. The only thing I would say needs improvement is the new england clam chowder, when I think new england I think creamy while this was served more like a white new york style (loose). Drinks were really good too. Some well crafted coctails, my date had the lavender lemonade and loved it and I had a nice paper plane. Capped off the night with an espresso with just a touch of sambuca, which really rounded things off well. Our bartender/server Joseph was also super personable and attentive, and made the whole experience really memorable. 10/10 would dine again.

I called prior to making a reservation since half of my eight person party is vegan. The man I spoke to said the Gnocci with truffle sauce and Penne arrabiata were both vegan in addition to the Quinoa bowl as well as the Impossible Burger. This is in fact incorrect. The waitress informed us that all the pastas were made with egg. I ordered the Impossible Burger and specified "vegan", so no cheese or bang bang sauce as that's mayo based. After four tries (first had cheese, second was slathered with bang bang sauce, third with less sauce and fourth with the sauce hidden on the bottom of the burger) my dining companions had finished their dinners and I gave up, forgoing the bread with sauce soaked into it and scraping the sauce off the burger. It's doubtful we would have gone there had we known the employee informing us that the pasta dishes were vegan was wrong, and the burger situation would have been comical if I wasn't hungry. On the other hand the waitress did her best, comping the dish I couldn't really eat as well as a cocktail. And the place itself is beautiful. I will definitely go again knowing what I know, even just for the atmosphere and cocktails. Everyone else enjoyed...
