The waitress by the counter was nice - having coffee & danish - left a good tip- On the way out I let them know the milk I bought was very sour up front in the bakery -with a horrible odor a week before -because I come to town only on that certain day weekly - I let them know & proceeded to get a nod of okay from the person at the counter that it was okay to take a replacement—only to be confronted as if I was a bag lady & stole the milk -while I was almost to my car outside & they brought me back in. How embarrassing & petty! I let the manager know I am a regular customer -both my daughter & I - & she still refused to reimburse or give me a fresh carton of milk as a replacement - saying I had to bring the stinky mess of the full carton of milk back from my home - I told her I poured it out a week ago because the smell was disgusting & offensive in my fridge! I offered to bring the smelly empty carton in for her-if she would like & look for the receipt for her - she said even if I did that will not be acceptable! The nerve of this manager , Betty was ridiculously rude! If I went to Adams or Hannaford- or any other local biz they would honor me as a customer & take my word. Just imagine all the other people who bought sour milk too on that day from there the week before when I did! My daughter said the day we bought the milk a man complained the milk he put in his coffee to go was sour- as she waited for her order of food -never thinking our new carton of milk we would buy was sour too! I will never eat there again -but, I will try one more time to negotiate & call a different manager tomorrow -hopefully he will make this situation right ! It is the principle & I decided not to let others get away with not being honorable towards me in life - as I always try to do my best by others ! I will let all my family & friends know too what went on.. I am dealing with a painful physical illness & I went out of my way to replace this carton of milk. The manager was not nice at al & unprofessional. That is not how you treat a long term customer in our close knit...
Read moreAfter the cake tasting with our caterer for our wedding left us feeling disappointed, we scrambled to find a bakery that did wedding cakes and would deliver to our venue. We weren’t looking for anything fancy, just really yummy cake. And we didn’t want the sculpted fondant look.
Not being from the area, we found Deisings via Yelp. We were going to be in the Hudson Valley the following day, so we asked to see if they could fit us in for a tasting. They were so accommodating and allowed us to come last minute.
Our tasting was with Eric, who was so nice, laidback, and easy to work with. We were able to pick 6 kinds of cake and then 6 kinds of frosting. The cake was cut into cubes and the frosting was served in small condiment dishes, so we could dip the cake in and try different combinations. Eric gave us great feedback on the popular flavors (we wanted our guests to be happy) and the cake was delicious. Again, nothing particularly revelatory, but really tasty.
At the end of the tasting, Eric didn’t pressure us to commit, gave us what we felt like was a fair quote, and said to call him a month before the wedding if we decide to go with them. When we saw a lesbian cake topper in a display on the way out, that sealed the deal. (We also got their fresh twinkies for the ride home and they were incredible.)
We went with a four-tier cake with alternating rosette tiers of yellow cake with vanilla custard and fresh strawberries, and chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. We finalized the order on the phone with another manager, who was equally helpful. The cake arrived he day of the wedding without a hitch and was just as we pictured and just as delicious as we remembered. We couldn’t have asked for more!
We ate the leftovers for two days after the wedding on our honeymoon. Eric didn’t recommending freezing the smallest layer and said in a year, they’ll make us another for our anniversary. We’re looking...
Read moreUPDATE: this business never reached out to me at all and never issued me a refund. Thankfully I paid with PayPal so PayPal was able to step in and refund the purchase for me. Do not EVER order anything from them online!
I bought some pastries online to have shipped to my father for Father’s Day. He moved out of state and talks about how much he misses Deisings all the time. I was so excited when I saw Deisings ships some of their baked goods. On their website it states that orders placed Thursday or later would ship out on Monday to insure freshness. So I placed my order on Thursday. On Friday I received an email that my order had shipped, I tried emailing them to ask why it shipped already and they never replied. My father received the package on Monday and the pastries were destroyed. They didn’t package them in a shipping box, they reused a box that whipped cream was delivered to them in (see photos). The box had holes on the sides too so bugs and other pests could easily get into the box & get to the food. They also shipped the package out with barely any padding at all so the pastries were being tossed around inside the box. There was no ice packs or anything used to control the temperature in transit either. Upon hearing the news of how the order was shipped I called Deisings. I spoke to someone who told me only their boss could help me with a refund or replacement, and they took my name & number down and told me that I’d receive a call from them tomorrow. I never received a call back, and they won’t reply to emails either. I’m going to have to pursue a chargeback with my card company now.
Highly, highly disappointed in them. It’s absurd and embarrassing that a business would ship out baked goods like this, and then do nothing to correct it. Highly recommend never ordering...
