The ambiance at Good Eat’n was charming, cozy and comforting. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the owner Joe as well as his staff. The initial greet in any establishment will set the tone of whats too come, experience wise. I was so happy I looked up southern food and came across this establishment. The ambiance is something I’d like to compare to dinner at grandmas house on a Sunday afternoon. This is the perfect environment to dine in on any given day, especially if you’re looking for a fantastic southern cooked meal. Everything on the menu looked incredible so I had to go with a couple different dishes to get a feel of the menu. I had the catfish which was lightly breaded, had the perfect crunch and nice flavor. The ribs were so tender and fall off the bone I mean it was incredible, paired with the delicious collard greens. Next the fried chicken…. Wow the crunch, the flavor and the juiciness of the chicken had me in awe. That dish was also paired with a tasty and cheesy Mac n cheese as well as yams. The cornbread is and will always be a favorite of mine during dinner. Can we talk about the turkey? I mean wow so juicy and flavorful , I almost thought I was having thanksgiving, I mean juicy and surpassed my expectations. Now everyone’s part of any meal… desert, am I right? This cake was the perfect late night to go snack with a warm cup of milk. I can’t wait to come back and indulge in five more dishes. Thank you Good Eat’n and staff for such an amazing experience.

b.overly_delicious @goodeatnsoulfood Kingston, NY: Good Eat’n has replaced Eddys on Broadway after more than a 50yr run. Bringing a much needed soul food spot to midtown’s diverse offerings. The staff was more than friendly upon entering and super appreciative of the local community coming in to check them out. The entrees come with your choice of 2 sides, which you can pick from a variety of their options. Collard greens, mac and cheese, yams, corn bread, and potato salad to name a few. We shared the fried chicken wings ($21) and rib entrees ($23). Ribs were fall off the bone and chicken wings were hand breaded and crispy crunchy. Corn bread was very moist and Mercedes threw in an extra piece so we didn’t have to share. Portions were large and we had plenty of left overs. Customers have high expectations for Good Eat’n and they have some big shoes to fill. I hope to see an expanded menu in the future. Best luck to Joe and family.

We had such a wonderful experience at Goo eat’n! The food was absolutely excellent fresh, flavorful, and made with so much care. The service matched the food warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. From the moment we walked in, we felt like family with family. There’s such a special energy in the space, the kind that makes you slow down and enjoy being there. Every dish felt like it was made to be shared, and every interaction left us smiling. It’s rare to find a place that combines great food with that true sense of hospitality. We can’t wait to return, this will definitely be one of our regular stops in Kingston!

First things first let me start by saying thank you Jesus for sending me here ! Not even joking . I was googling for a place to eat chicken . I been craving some chicken wings but I do not eat fast food and I wasn’t trying to eat Chinese either . I seen the pictures on google and I was like yum let’s try it . Me and my friend pulled up , at first I was like ummmm this isn’t what I was expecting as far as ambiance from the out side , however I know like most of us be knowing those little spots tucked away be sometimes the best damn places to eat . So I was like let’s just try it out . As soon as you walk in it’s a vibe , good music , and the people ! The owner and his daughter are amazing souls . I mean that! they just make your experience pleasant , inviting , like if you at a family cook out type vibes . You feel at home for sure . They are warm and welcoming very polite and great service. But let’s get to the food , plates all come with 2 sides and a meat unless you get just the sandwhich . 15-25$ . For me personally ? That’s very reasonable considering a damn Wendy’s meal can be 15-18 bucks . I got the chicken wings , mac , potato salad , I also got corn bread and some collar greens . OMGGGGGGG! I’m not even joking when I said the flavor was absolutely delicious , crispy , juicy , tender wings . The potato salad was fresh and delicious . The collar greens were soooo flavorful I’m drooling hours later ! The Mac !!! Come on perfect amount of cheese and flavor not too much not too little literally perfect ! Corn bread nice and moist . I’m like Inlove ! It’s hard to find good soul food these days ! This is the place to go if you want delicious authentic flavorful food in a clean and amazing environment were you feel at home ! Hands down amazing ! Ohh and let’s not forget the PORTIONS ? No gas I was busting it down and still had a bunch of food to take home ! 60$ I got all that and my friends meal ! Like hearty hefty portions . I was actually shocked how much food you got ! They don’t be handing out full plates anymore and I been to way more expensive places with less quality and paid a lot more for smaller portions . They just opened in DEC 2024! This is a hidden Gem ! I’m soo glad I went I will be back and I...

I ordered take out this afternoon. The server was friendly and engaging. I didn't get her name. Mercedes, 1 of the owners, came out and greeted me and explained she was running behind. While waiting she gave me some delicious sweet tea. Joe the father and other owner also came out and greeted me while I was waiting. As a new restaurant, the owners coming out and touching the tables and people waiting for food is a class act. It goes along way. We got 2 rib dinners, shrimp and grits, and a turkey sandwich on wheat. Dinners come with 2 sides and are in the $20 range. We also got a side of coleslaw, extra cornbread, and sweet potato cheesecake. The sandwich had 1 side. For the rib dinners we got got both with mac and cheese, 1 with yams and 1 with corn bread. The ribs were fall off the bone tender. While I prefer a rib with just a bit of bite and pull they were absolutely delicious. I would order them again. I'm Puerto Rican and the yams made me think of my abuelas batatas. Slightly less caramelized but the warm spices were spot on. The corn bread moist and delicious. The star of the show and where just about every soul food spot and bbq place normally fall short or fail, the mac and cheese. This is hands down some of the best mac and cheese I've had since moving back to NY from the south. I could have eaten a whole takeout container of it and been happy. My wife ate the shrimp and grits and said it was fantastic. Creamy, cheese, and they are not skimping on the shrimp. The sweet potato cheesecake, which is made by a local was also amazing. Decadent, creamy, and not overtly sweet. This is our 2nd time getting food from here. They are a newer place and I think are still figuring out some of their timing and daily pars but it is 100% worth the wait, if you get stuck waiting a bit. Do yourself a favor head down to Broadway, give Joe and Mercedes some love. We've got a proper soul food spot in Kingston. Let's do our best to make sure they...
