This is the best Mexican place in Kingston. There is a lot of authentic Oaxacan fare. They could do a little better with presentation of a few things, it's real home style Oaxacan food without much flair. The Pozole is a standout, probably the best in duchess or Ulster county. They also make one of the best chile rellenos I've had. The horchata is not too sweet, and the guacamole is solid and fresh , but not stand out. The tortillas are homemade and really special. There is something deeply gorgeous about everything this restaurant makes. Flavors are fresh, healthy, and brightly complex. They make you feel both invigorated and hugged from the inside by people who pour all of their love into their food.

And that murky red chili sauce they give you on the side for tostadas. Oh mi madre that stuff is made for Jesus. It’s unlike any of its kind I’ve ever had. So complex and savory and bright and herbal and also deep and…you could put it on ice cream or your dog and it would still be great.

I had zero idea this restaurant existed, let alone that it was a chain. All I can say is, the staff is super friendly, the food is cooked in generous portions and it reminds me of the sort of thing my grandma used to make.
