Now there is Jamaican food and there is food that claims to be but doesn’t put in the hours or days into the layers of flavors. Let me start off by saying the shop is on an unassuming corner store which from the outside reminds me of London, but when you walk in you are hit immediately by spices, flavors and choice of stewed meats, fried chicken, and fish that honestly makes the only bad thing about the visit being choosing from the selection! Our server was so friendly and helpful, and talked us through everything and our options. I mean kindness AND great food, this is what is missing from the eating experience in America. I chose Jerk Chicken which comes with fried plantains, slaw and rice and peas. My friend had fried chicken, stew meat, with an impressive layered Mac n cheese. We entered some type of numb bliss after eating and couldn’t leave this place for at least an hour lol. Not a coma, but the value for money and plate size which we didn’t even put a dent in might have something to do with it lol. Someone inject money into this restaurant (investors this is the one) and expand this place to be available in every city! My only complaint is you’re not on every corner, in every...
Read moreI’ve lived in the Upstate area for over 10 years. I’ve eaten quite a bit of Jamaican food growing up and Top Taste really gives that island flavor you crave . Upon arrival you know the regulars have taken their places upon the booth in the front and sometimes you catch a group of kids grabbing their variety of Caribbean sodas. A feeling of a warming community is painted on the art of the walls and the owners friendly faces ready to gift you the most fulfilling jerk chicken you can imagine. I ate this chicken twice in one week and I wish I could have it everyday. Do yourself a favor and treat yourself and your loved ones a meal worth spending your money on, and just get the big plate. I witnessed a guy change his order from a small plate for his mom to, two large plates to go even after he had finished a plate with his friend. The ginger beer is essential, you are there so don’t skip out. In the best possible way, you are sure to leave this place...

Even though there are plenty of Jamaican restaurants in the 5 boroughs I have to say Top Taste is second to The Door Jamaican restaurant when, it comes to authentic good tasting Jamaican food. The oxtail was well seasoned and fall off the bone delicious. The jerk chicken was seasoned to the bone. I really did not enjoyed the fry chicken as much as my kids did. And portions are more than generous.
One thing I must admit that I have not experienced at any other Jamaican restaurants in the 5 boroughs are exceptional customer service. The husband and wife combination customer service they present is exceptional.
The drive was...
