I've been here about three times now, each time for pick up only. The food has been consistent for me. This most recent visit, I got the southern fried chicken, the Mac and cheese, the candied yams, corn bread and the potato salad and both the sweet potato pie, and a banana pudding for dessert. I wanted to see if items I tried before tasted any different. Well, I for sure am definitely not a fan of the potato salad. It just is something I should have known not to get. The candied yams actually tasted better than when I got them the first time. The chicken was still good, although they didn't serve those huge pieces like before. I guess the recession is hitting everyone, and the inflation has gotten back to the chicken 😩. I think the mac and cheese also was better if not about the same. The sweet potato pie wasn't all that for me which again is weird based on the restaurant name. We ordered two pies and one was a pie like you'd get at your local chicken spot and the other was a pie slice. The banana pudding was good, though. Also, I did try some of the collards with smoked turkey and that was really good. I would get that next time. Oh, also, there's a cash discount but you don't find that out until after you pay so you pay the total given then you get change back and THEN they tell you about the discount. In all this time, the experience was 4.25 or 4.5 stars but...
Read moredeep breath Ok, they are officially in my top 5, uptown eats and have officially knocked out all soul food selections near the Bronx for me (idc, argue with whoever — just not me). I have logged in to leave a review, so you know it’s real. They’ve consistently hit the spot and I felt this review was warranted.
with a proviso that, I have yet to visit in person, so this is all based off my UberEats experiences I go for the special (2 proteins/2sides)….. my selections come packaged right, fried shrimp is crispy, seasoned well and still hot. Now turning my attention to those fall off the bone short ribs.. meat is “TENDA-baby”, sauce is decadent…and the first time I opened it and saw that it is accompanied by a complimentary side of rice (—the big back in me was crying tears of joy because you know, 2 sides is plenty and I usually lean to getting Mac and collard greens when I’m ordering out…but having some rice to soak up the sauce just hits the spot and not having to pay Uber a million dollars for the add on 🤞🏾🙌🏾—yall did that).
Today, I ordered the cornbread for the first time… and yeah, let’s just say that sealed the deal. If Vanna White had 5 spaces on the board and the topic was to describe this cornbread… MOIST would be the FINAL and WINNING answer.
Lol, in all serious though, this a solid...
Read moreThe food was delicious! My sisters and I were looking for a great southern soul food spot for Sunday dinner. This spot was recommended to me by a coworker, who described it so well that I couldn't wait to try it! The complimentary salad was refreshing with its slices of pears and fresh feta cheese with housemade raspberry vinaigrette. We all were astounded by the portions of food we received for our main entrees. We ordered the seafood platter, BBQ ribs, mac and cheese, string beans, sweet potatoes, collard greens, cornbread, fried chicken breast and collectively shared stealing tastes from each other's plates (and we were starving! Or so we thought lol). Safe to say it looked like we barely touched our food given the portions and the appetizers that we ordered (salad, fried shrimp, cornbread). All of the food was delicious and worth the drive from Harlem. And what's dinner without dessert?? I ordered the banana pudding, which was highly recommended by my coworker, I wasn't a fan being that I'm only accustomed to the oven baked banana pudding. The only downfall was that the seating area was really cramped and small for a dine-in experience. A seating for no more than 8 ppl. for the area we were in (literally elbow-to-elbow with the next table). Overall a great...
