This has been legit my favorite Chinese takeout since discovering it two years ago when transferring up here. The quality, quantity, prices, everything was on point, and I'm sort of picky with certain dishes so this was like... on point for EVERYTHING. Even when not up here, I'd travel from home occasionally for it. Then, the past couple times, I've just been... meh. What really turned me off was when I ordered a lunch special, when there was still substantial lunch special time. I made it clear in order and confirmation. I was charged for the combination platter which is substantially more and I don't eat the egg roll nor usually that amount of food, that's why I make sure to order during those hours. I didn't want to make a big deal, I thought maybe because I had been late picking it up or something but then I checked the receipt (something I never usually save) and saw it was printed the time I placed the order. If you don't want people ordering it the last half hour then you should advertise the specials end at 2:00 or 2:30 then, it makes for bad business. After that I hadn't planned on going back but did today. I know when I do Doordash pickup this is one of those places that passes on the doordash charge to the customer (some restaurants do, others don't, I know Cask and Cow is the same price whether you do DoorDash or call) so I can't say if the prices went up for sure... but wouldn't be surprised because I get distribution is terrible now. However, the portions were like.... totally different... like wayyyyyy less. Usually I have at least two meals, I ate that plus picked at other stuff. I get that things are terrible right now so I don't want to criticize or shame but it was substantial and with the experience before then I don't know if the owners' are crunching to make up for cost increase or what but it was just sooo substantial and didn't compare with price increase/quantity decrease of other area restaurants so maybe there's more to it.
Just be aware and prepared if you haven't ordered in a while about these issues and order accordingly and check...
Read moreToday I called and ordered 3 combo platters for my family for dinner. Give husband’s phone number as he was picking up on way home from work. Walks in the door puts bag down on kitchen counter. Right away I think bag is small for 3 meals. Something in the bag has leaked all on the one bottom side. I proceed to open bag and inside there is only 2 out of the 3 combo platters in bag. I immediately think of honest mistake, maybe it’s busy. I’ll just give them a call and go back. The girl I ordered from answers the phone. I tell her my husband just picked up our order and only 2 combo platters were inside the bag. She says hold on and sets down phone. Doesn’t put me on hold so I can hear everything she’s saying. Says to another employee “the lady on the phone is saying she is missing one of her combo platters but I know I put it in there so I don’t know what you want me to tell her”. I proceed to hear her say again “well she lyin, because I know I put it in there.” She gets back on the phone and says” uh yeah I guess you can just come and get another one.” So then I’m like no it’s NOT ANOTHER one if I have never received the first one I asked and paid for. I say “ honey I assure you I’m not lying, I’m not going to waste our time, our yours, or my gas If I had gotten what I paid for. I’m sure it was an honest mistake and maybe it was accidentally put in another customer’s bag. But I assure you it was not in ours! She says “whatever, just come and get it!” Hangs up! In the mean time a guy from Great Wall calls husbands phone and insists we we have it. And he is kinda laughing. Husband says a no, we don’t! So he goes and picks up meal. Gets home. Meal container is half full of what is normally would be. And the meal that leaked had lid half put on. Food has honestly gone downhill a lot over the years. I suggest if you do order from them check your bag before you leave. Because if they mess up...
Read moreI have been ordering from Great Wall for well over 15 years. Whether pickup, dine in or delivery, the food is ALWAYS hot, and amazing. Although like most people, I tend to have my favorites. However, in the past year I've decided to challenge myself and try at minimal, over a dozen new dishes, and I've loved them all!! My new favorites are chicken teriyaki (yummm), Beef chow mai fun (rice noodles), Moo Shoo beef/chicken (Although I recommend extra pancakes if sharing this dish), and chicken egg foo young (which I substitute garlic sauce instead of the gravy for a bit more spice). The vegetable lomein, I could eat almost every day, and the customer service is topnotch. There is no better chinese restaurant in this area that serves better quality food, great friendly service, and large quantities. If you're looking to try something new, ask the staff and they will absolutely help guide you with recommendations that you'll love! I wish I could give Great Wall 10 stars!! Don't rely solely on reviews, you must try their...
