Had a disappointing experience, I’m sad to report, our first time trying the restaurant. My husband and I were looking forward to a date night before the madness of the holidays starts. We arrived a little early for our for 5:15pm reservation. The dining room was lovely. There was 1 table of diners, a four top in the corner, when we arrived. We were going to be seated at the 2 top table literally right next to them when all the other several 2 tops were available. I kindly asked if we could have a buffer and sit at the next table over. One of the hostesses just kept looking at the seating chart, then the other hostess said that they have a lot of reservations that evening. Our other choice was a high top table in the bar / open kitchen area, so we took that. We figured we’d choose more privacy vs sitting right next to the only other diners. While a cool space, it just wasn’t what we were looking for right before a holiday. We made a reservation for the main dining room. We decided to just get appetizers (and my husband got a glass of wine) which were delicious. We’re sure their mains are great but unfortunately front of house killed our vibe and we decided to go somewhere else for dinner. Our waitress was lovely and we were happy to let her know. We spent approximately 45 minute there. Sure enough, when we were leaving through the main dining room, only one other couple was seated at a 2 top … the table we asked for — with a buffer in between the other table of diners — and of course, all the other 2 tops were still empty. We just felt like they missed the mark on customer service tonight up front. We really should have been given a little more flexibility when we arrived for our...
Read moreI'll start by saying we chose this place based on the Beet Ravioli on the menu, as well as a local recommendation for the food and ambiance. I will totally agree that this is such a hidden gem of NY, let alone Oneonta.
We got the focaccia(8/10), scallop pasta(7/10), the hanger steak(8/10), and the pot de crème(9/10). I think the focaccia(made in house daily) changes depending on the day, but we had the rosemary and thyme tonight with grape jelly(this jelly was the bomb). The scallop pasta was a huge portion with spinach and sun dried tomatoes. The pasta itself, which is also house made, was really good. There were plenty of scallop pieces. The steak came with garlic mash and broccolini. The steak, cooked to med rare, came pre sliced and was a good piece of steak. It wasn’t the best steak I’ve ever had, but still good. The garlic mash was okay. We think it could have used a bit more salt and been warmer. The broccolini was cooked well and had a good season. The chocolate pot de creme was well worth dining in(it’s made in their own dishes so it’s not available for carry out). It was cold, full of chocolate flavor, and the Swiss meringue on top was sweet and sticky. One of the best desserts we’ve had. Bonus points for our waitress, Ariel. She was very nice and attentive without overdoing it. We made reservations online and our table was set when we walked in. Dinner from sit down to walk out was about an hour. We did not have a problem with parking, but may be bad if you dine in later in the evening. Overall a great place to try out. Menu changes often and there’s chef specials not...
