We go to this great little bakery every now and then (wish it were a bit closer as we would go more often) to pick up "conchas", or what we call "sugar rolls". They are kind of like Easter Bread rolls, with some baked-on sugar on top. They are great.
The Pandaderia Perla De Oriente has a fairly large selection of all sorts of baked goods, all in bins on the back wall. You just help yourself (use the tongs) and put however many you want onto a tray, and they will ring you up at the register. They are a great and different alternative to the usual doughnuts, so pick up a bunch to bring to your office (or home).
They also make hot food, which we have tried, which is also good... great prices, friendly folks... however, it helps to find someone who speaks English (since I don't speak Spanish), but there is usually someone there to answer any...

Everything looked so good we ended up ordering a tamale and a bunch of bread from the bakery. The employees are attentive and the quality of their food is top notch.
