my husband and I visited for the first time on a Friday night in September, and we had such a fabulous experience -- drinks, food, and service. so we excitedly returned just weeks later, and the experience couldn't have been more opposite. it was very clearly busy in that there was only one empty table available for us, but they offered to seat us, so we settled in.
we placed our food and drink order quickly, but then we waited upwards of 90 minutes to actually receive our food. we waited so long that a table next to us started chatting with us about the long wait, ultimately leaving altogether before getting their food. I saw our server come out with their meals, asking someone else, "oh, they bailed too?" indicating that other tables had indeed left before receiving their food.
but we were starving and had already ordered, so how much longer could it be? well, we should've known things were bad when it was well into an hour and our server said she'd "just put a rush in" on our meals and they'd be out "within 10 minutes."
she was apologetic and did comp a round of drinks, but this place clearly has some serious staffing issues. and it's a shame because I think there's so much potential here. for the positive: my fish and chips were fabulous. my husband's beef stew was flavorless and had lots of bones, but he was so hungry, he just ate from my plate in the end.
this was genuinely the longest I've ever waited for food at a restaurant and it makes me hesitant to ever return again, at least on a weekend evening. I hope they can work things out and hire more staff so other people aren't left at their tables wondering "should we stay or...
Read moreFist few visits were OK. BUT! Recently. I Made reservations. Got there. No reservations. And, no apology from the woman who said that there wasn't any reservation for us. But she did seat us and was pleasant enough. We sat 20 minutes before we had wait service. We do this routine pretty regularly being that we do the Paramount a lot. My 1st few visits, our waiter Chase was so on top of us. He asked it we had a show and said no worries he'd have us out on-time. He was fast, pleasant , professional. This time. We finally got our food and again, a rediculous wait time. And a big guy from the kitchen served us. Without a smile. No customer service connection at all. He actually seemed quite miserable. The food was just OK. I got the strew. A bit scarce for the price and barely warm. The worst though. The waitress was observed by us and the couple at the table next to us, handling her order pad and then immediatally handled the fruit that she squeezed into a customers drink. Never washed her germy hands. OSHA came to mind. Not going back. The couple at the table next to us also had made reservations and they didn't seem to have theirs either. We requested bread from two different people and no bread. The couple next to us order sheperds pie to have after their appitizers and they never brought it. Happy with Gleason's so...
Read moreI ordered 2 pints on Draught. I paid for each beer with cash, one at a time. The total, with tax, came out to $9.80 per beer. I paid with a $20 bill and got a $10 bill back. What happened to the change that I was owed?
It must have gone back into the register or the bartenders tip jar because I didn't get my money back (even after leaving gratuity). The bartender was a female with a European accent.
Keep the $0.40, and I will take my business and money elsewhere. Not only is this move unethical, but it is also illegal.
UPDATE Since I hurt the owner's feelings and cried "on the internet", maybe he can work on his employee's integrity and not steeling customer's money. You can call me a crybaby, but if you weren't thieves, you wouldn't have to call me any names at all.
Have a...
