Positives: Food was Delicious and NOT expensive, Service was great and quick Negatives: Minor, but initially figuring out where best to park. An entrance to the Walkway Over the Hudson is also next to Lola's which can make it busy.
I knew that an old high school classmate of mine had opened Lola's years ago, and despite my friends and family going and telling me how great it was, I just haven't been there until early this week.
Based on giving alternatives to "fast food" Lola's did not fail in value and taste. After looking at the menu, and based on the fact that it was still 95 degrees outside, I decided to try the Autumn Chicken Salad, with a side of Spicy Peanut Noodles.
Having a seat at the counter (made me feel like a kid again), I didn't have time to sit on my phone and browse mindlessly, because my food was out within a few minutes. Just to put it into perspective, the place was full, and even though mine was a cold sandwich, if there was anything fast about Lola's food, it was the delivery.
The Autumn Chicken Salad was outstanding! the mix of adding in the apricot and citrus aioli really made this wrap "POP" in flavor and uniqueness!
BUT... An even better surprise was the Spicy Peanut Noodles. I've tasted dozens of peanut based dishes and I must say that these had the right blend of sauce, flavor and texture. I will be going back JUST for these noodles!!!
There are many more hot and cold foods that I want to go back and try but a little bird told me first to go next door to Lola's newest creation next door, Lolita's Pizza!
Check out Lola's in Poughkeepsie at 131 Washington Street, you won't be...
Read moreI purchased a chicken bruschetta today when it arrived the chicken was not fully cooked.
Upon calling for a replacement I was told I would still be paying for this. I don't mind paying for some chicken but if your product is not cooked as this was I would be offering my apologies and taking this item off the receipt, not acting defensive. Having to argue with the manager and asking for the owner the owner who gave a very sassy attitude stating that he cooks the chicken with this and that and this is why its red, even though ive ordered it multiple times and its never been red. Also uncooked looks different than some red meat. He goes on not to simply apologize like he should've of but to get defensive. A simple sorry goes a long way buddy.
All in all I get the delivery boy (good guy!) back on my door. He says he needs the chicken back. I tell him uhh it has bites eaten out but you are more than welcome to go dig through our garbage for it. He clearly passes as would anyone whos boss puts them in such a position.
If you just apologized and admitted to your mistake I may still be a...
Read moreDelicious food at a reasonable price with great service! We got the tofu and blackberry panini and the short rib grilled cheese. Both were creative sandwiches that tasted really good, with toasty bread and tofu and beef that were just the right texture! The tofu was smooth and not crumbly. It’s blackened and definitely quite spicy. The short rib was braised or stewed, making it tender and flavorful. I appreciated the unique options of peanut noodles or salad as a complimentary side, and the peanut noodles and black bean and corn salad were both great. We’ve went here while visiting the Hudson Valley Rail Trail a couple times and I really recommend it (and the adjacent pizza place) as a lunch spot right off the trail. It’s a pretty small place with some good seats (including a small window-facing table), but it might be hard to find seating during busy times. Overall I was really impressed by the high quality of Lola’s Cafe and their menu of familiar dishes with a creative twist. I highly...
