I stopped at Island Buzz because my family and I wanted to try something different than the places we typically frequent. We went in with hopes of getting a good oxtail dinner and stewed chicken. We get there and the people were nice but told us to give them 20 minutes because some of the food was still cooking. My daughter and I waited patiently. I should have known then to turn around because itās rare you get to a Jamaican restaurant in the evening and the oxtails and chicken are still cooking. At least in my experience. Itās typically sold out. But despite that we waited. I get my food and headed home. Got home and was HIGHLY disappointed. The oxtails were tough and unable to be chewed. They were so dry my 12 year old came and said āMa, whereās the moisture?ā. The meal was so bad I had to go out and get something else to eat because it was too late to cook and we all were still hungry. I was hesitant to call back but I did because I paid $37 for both dinners. With the amount of money I paid I wanted a refund or a remake of my meal. I called and was told I could come back. I was unable to come back right away and called today to only get the run around by someone at the restaurant who sounds just like the previous guy who said come back. Iām writing this review because I feel ripped off. I understand things happen but the status of that plate was horrible and hidden in gravy. Then to feel like I am being played with about my replacement meal I wonāt tolerate. Please do better...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis place was Outrageously priced very high. It would have been able to be overlooked if the food was superb and matched the price. I ordered ox tails and pepper steak with rice and peas and cabbage. I asked the staff how many sides do you get with the large meal the server said one and another staff said two. The inconsistancy in the answers between staff gave great pause. The oxtails large was 24 dollars and I received 8 oxtails half of them were mini. The oxtails were served with a very very thin watery birth. The oxtails lacked a gravy of substance and had no seasoning. They were not even tender. The cabbage was very soft and mushy and overdone. The pepper stack was severely dry and I was served 2 peppers with my 19 dollar steak. The steak was also served in a very thin watery broth. It's upsetting and unsettling to support this establishment and be given below mediocre food in quality and taste. After having actually eaten in Jamaica, this restaurant fails dramatically in comparison. What a waste of my hard earned money. I also ordered beef patties which were spiced ok but tasted store brought rather than homemade. This food was so poor in quality and the servers were skimpy in the portions given.zThey also were out of fried dumplings and out of plantains. This was so upsetting as they had just opened. They should have been...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe food is out of this world amazing. Meat fell off of the bones so delicately and left them so clean, never tasted chicken as tender as their curry chicken. Rice and beans were perfectly moist, not all stuck together and not dry, either. The cabbage is seasoned to perfection and suits the entire flavor profile of the dish. Served by authentic Jamaicans straight from the island, accent and all. The atmosphere was nice for what it is, it's takeout but there are seats available. You're greeted warmly and the prices also...
