Magpie Irish Pub — Restaurant in City of Rochester

I tried to go here with friends and was denied entry for wearing a white tank top. It was a hot summer night, and my outfit was perfectly appropriate—I’ve worn it to plenty of other bars without issue. When I asked the security guard why it wasn’t allowed, he said, “it’s just the owner’s rules” and claimed that every bar on Park Ave enforces the same dress code (spoiler alert - they don’t!). I asked if these rules were posted anywhere, and they weren’t—nor do they appear on the bar’s website or social media. If a dress code is going to be enforced, it should be made clear. Otherwise, it feels like arbitrary and potentially discriminatory gatekeeping. I also noticed women inside wearing more revealing outfits, and the guard said the owner lets females wear whatever they want. Yikes. I've been coming to this bar for years and years, and as a regular to the Park ave area some of these reviews are comical. No this irish pub is not a restaurant, but they can serve you quick fryer food and if you go there on the weekends you know why. This is one of the only good bars left for young people to go to. And these young people continue to use it and abuse it while they're being drunk idiots. That is a tale as old as time - and these bartenders working here deal with it day in and day out and that's the standard. As an owner why would you continue to fix and repair and put all this money into it for the same shit to keep happening? Didn't even sit down here. We were denied at two other places in park ave because they had long wait times. So we decided pub food sounded great! Now knowing at the time they didn't serve food for a PUB..... We walked in and stood there waiting to get seated. We were asked by some lady bartending if we needed anything and we asked if we just sit ourselves. Then she replied with a VERY passive aggressive attitude "well we aren't a real restaurant...we just serve drinks like normal bars" extremely taken back on how rude this lady was.
