Since this is my fathers absolute favorite restaurant I have been coming here since a little kid and have never liked it (needless to say my father has no taste buds lol). However it was my fathers birthday last week and I hadn't been there in over 15 years so decided why not give this place another chance .... nothing's changed.
Let's start with the good - The atmosphere is nice located right near the lake and has somewhat of a romantic setting on the inside. The menu choices are vast and anyone can find something they like on the menu. They even have gluten free pasta and other dishes available upon request. The prices are fair and the portion sizes are Huge.
The negatives - the quality of the food to start nothing seems to have a taste to it let alone an authentic itailian taste. For an Italian restaurant to use a can of red sauce says something right there. The dishes also aren't made properly - for example odd pairings and the risotto was just terrible thing that looked like soup. Nothing on the menu you'd recommend.
The service though is where it gets really bad. I was with a party of four and it took us 2.5 hours from start to finish and we didn't even have to wait for a table and were fast eaters and didn't get desert or apps or drinks. The waitress also seemed to be a bit out of it. However as soon as they saw we were finished they were quick to kick us out and give us the bill after we said we didn't want desert.
I hope to never have to eat here again but unfortunately due to my dad I probably will - however I don't...
Read moreI didn't have the best experience. The service was very slow, but they were fairly busy for a Sunday. My main issue was with my entree. I ordered the chicken masala and when it came out I instantly regretted ordering it. It was basically some breaded chicken and canned mushrooms swimming in a soup of a sauce. In my experience, marsala is a reduced, rather thick sauce... This was like a wine-flavored broth. The sauce seemed to have separated, because there was a layer of oil floating on top. I used a spoon to sift it off, and ended up FILLING a small bread dish to the brim. It had to be at least 1/3 cup of oil. Because of how long it took to get our food, I didn't want to wait for something else. The waiter was kind enough to comp my entree, but I felt very weird voicing my complaints... The response I got was "oh well it smells good", "this is what a marsala sauce is", "next time you can ask for the sauce on the side". I was already uncomfortable about complaining, it's something I rarely do, but to have my unhappiness with my meal brushed off like I was the one in the wrong was frustrating. I also got a side of pasta with red sauce. I couldn't quite tell if the sauce was home made. It had a bit of a metallic taste and was way too peppery. The restaurant has a nice location and atmosphere, but I was not happy with the food and will probably...
Read moreHad a reservation for 3, and they seated us in one of the older looking back rooms. Asked to get a booth in the bar area, which is beautifully decorated, and they accomodated without any problem. The overall service was outstanding!! By everyone!! Our server never let our bread, water or iced teas run out, and was always very attentive to our needs.Every time we finished a dish and put it towards the end of the table, someone, anyone, walking by would clear it. At one point I put a plastic cup to the end of the table, (server brought it to me filled with extra ice for the warm fresh brewed iced tea) Just to see how long it would be there before someone cleared it... I looked down to pull up the stopwatch on my phone, looked up to start timing and it was gone!!!! Great team effort!! Chicken French was fantastic, lobster risotto and chicken special dishes were great conceptually, but a tad heavy on the garlic for my taste. But in fairness, the server mentioned garlic in the description of the risotto, so I should have known it would be prominent in the dish.it was still good! Next time I’m trying the chicken parm, as it was always my favorite at “the lake” location, that we frequented for many years. Prices were very fair for the portion sizes. 2 out of the 3 of us took home leftovers.Overall a great restaurant that we will be back to...
