South Wedge Hots & Subs — Restaurant in City of Rochester

Been a customer here over 15 years they started on Portland avenue and branched off to Monroe. My family rented a home from them for 5 years so I know these ppl quite well (I thought). They use to be a great place to eat but now the customer service has gotten bad. They just want our money they don’t care about us. I went in at 1:30 am to order a burger at that time of night they only let 2 people in the door and the rest have to wait outside. I placed my order and did tell her I wanted banana peppers but I then changed and told her I wanted bell peppers she said ok. I stood in there waiting on my food and my friend because she wanted to order but I didn’t know what to put on her sub. So my friend walked in the lady then said “I’m not taking her order she gotta go outside” the guy then threw my burger on the counter I opened it and saw that it had banana pepper and not bell pepper so I told her “well can you jus take my friend order since you messed mine up” her husband began to yell at me like I said something wrong and then the wife began to be nasty which all they had to say was “no” . So I said “can you at least fix my order” they rufused to do so atp I ask for money back. I’ll never come here again nor will I tell all friends about this place anymore. This place has what I believe to be the best garbage plate in the South Wedge area and possibly Rochester! I ordered the classic cheeseburger plate with mac salad and home fries onions mustard and ketchup. You will first noticed the weight of the plate! Its hefty. If you have to walk home then you may want to use your strong arm. The plate is authentic in thats its the first plate that allows you to mix the beautiful and thick mac salad or have it separate from the meat and potatoes. The only form of segregation that ok in my book. Apart from the separate but very generous portions, you may also notice the alluring red hue of sludge over two thick juicy cheeseburgers. That would be its superiorly spicy meat sauce! I love the meat sauce here! Its got a kick that many hots locales lack. Its welcoming. The plentiful potatoes that are completely buried under the zesy madness are encapsulated and has managed to maintain a hot and CRISPY bite. I came here recently with my boyfriend around 2:00 am. We walked up to the counter to order ours subs to be told they are not making subs anymore. We were confused because they don’t close until 3:00 am. We’ve ordered food from here before and have had no problems. We’re regulars. I’m giving them a one star because of this.
