Probably our last visit, was so upset this time. We walked in were told to sit at any clean table. Someone grabbed our drink order and someone else took our order. I don’t think she introduced herself, our check said Alicia. Whoever the server was is someone I’ve seen there over the years. I remember when she was new and the following year saw her again, improved and again the following year. This year was about two since our last visit, the same server was a trainwreck. She didn’t get the order correct, was rushing to get away before we even could finish our order.
Food came, my husband was already over everything and just wanted a coffee refill, realizes eggs are missing the cheese. Tried getting anyone’s attention server finally comes over and she is highly annoyed and cocks her head with a look of what and my hubs asked for more coffee, as she’s pouring he said and there is no cheese on the eggs. She grabbed the plate stopped pouring ran to the kitchen and yelled “they said it’s supposed to have cheese, throw cheese on it and throw it in the microwave for 30 seconds.
I’m not stupid, sure they were gonna do as she said, but the yelling it and blatant passive aggression was what did it for me & him. I’m paying you, not so much the person you work for. A restaurant can’t survive without customers. I might not be local but I’m only 90 mins away and travel up often, for an area that thrives on tourism you sure made us feel like an unwanted tourist. Read moreVisited Shirley's for the first time yesterday, for breakfast. The first thing I noticed, after we seated ourselves, was that the tables were set without butter knives. My bf and I ordered the same thing - an omlette that was supposed to have carmelized onions, bacon, sausage and cheddar. The cheddar was the only good part about this omlette. The onions were not carmelized - they were barely sautéed and crunchy. The bacon was overcooked and hard to chew, and the sausage was sus, as my kids would say. It was some sort of pre-packaged sausage meat - larger, uniform shaped chunks of weird texture and color. My omlette's eggs were way overcooked and dry, my bf's were watery. We both got hash browns- his were better than mine, but not by much. Mine were this huge, steaming hot pile of mushy potato shreds covered in a paprika seasoning of some sort. So gross, I could not eat them. Hash browns are supposed to be much flatter, fried crisp on both sides, no seasoning other than salt. My pile of shred potatoes was so thick, it was literally steaming itself. If that weren't enough, later on, both he and I got stomach pains. We ate different things the remainder of the day, so...🤷🏻♀️ Also, they are pricey for what they serve, i.e. a cup of black coffee was $2.75! Anyway, should we visit Saratoga again, we will not be going back...
Read moreWhere to begin. For a place that has high reviews I was shocked with my experience there. I know that when it gets busy staff can get forgetful this wasn't the case. We waited over a half an hour for our waitress to come back to see if we need more coffee or ask how the meal was. Instead she was to busy talk to the other waitress, talking about some of the customers and complaining about her job. When she finally came over with the check she then asked if we wanted more coffee as we were ready to leave.
One of us ordered one egg, toast and sausages. The egg was okay. The butter on the toast wasn't even melted and we only got one sausage when the menu said you get two. The other person got a breakfast wrap that should have had smoked meat in it. There was only two small pieces of smoked meat and alot of egg. The taste wasn't that great.
When we went to pay we were confused on why we were being charged so much for one egg, toast and one sausage. The staff informed us that the breakfast combo came with hash browns that we didn't want. So in other words we were being charged for a full combo when we didn't get the hash browns and only got one sausage instead of two. I can understand thing are different because of the world we live in our days but this has been one of the worst restaurants experience I...
