I don't know what to say. I was really hoping I would've liked the food. The menu is written really well, to the point of imagining being able to taste the different items as I read it. I ordered the luscious sliders, mac and cheese rolls and creme brulee for dessert. The sliders had pickled onions on them, but not listed on the menu. No big deal, off they came. They were just OK, not amazing, not terrible. The max ace cheese rolls were not good at all. Poor flavor, very dry with absolutely no cheese for being called Mac& cheese. I feel like they were twice baked maybe? If I ran the kitchen, I would rethink those rolls. They could be amazing with some cheese and flavor. The roll was flaky, which I liked. The creme brulee was really bad. It's a difficult dessert to pull off properly, I admit. This is just not the way. It tasted absolutely like burned marshmallows. Maybe that's appealing to some, but it was definitely not what I would consider to be correct. One person in our party ordered mushroom spinach flatbread. I tried it and it reminded me of a very early/damp basement scent with matching flavor. Over-use of garlic and thyme in that and the brussel sprouts. I hate leaving negative reviews, especially for food. But if the establishment takes the reviews seriously, perhaps improvements could be made. The service was excellent, though one person in our party didn't receive one of her plates, so they made that to go for her. The space is small and somewhat cramped, but really not bad. Bathrooms were clean, the table and seating were comfortable, water was excellent and prices would be fair, if not for the sub-par food. I think this place has a lot of real potential. I'm sure others like it well enough, but for me? I've been eating food for over 5 decades and it just wasn't good. I have ideas that may work if someone will reach out and listen. I probably wouldn't return for a second visit. It's an eclectic place, and I think maybe that type of clientele is ok with the fare, thinking it's sophisticated. It's really not. I'm sorry this wasn't a better experience...
Read moreI made reservations online yesterday morning for a large party. Having waited tables before, I left a comment with my phone number in case there was any issue with a relatively late reservation. I heard nothing, so we carried on.
We show up and our “table” is two tiny cocktail tables stuffed together. They had brought water for the group, but we didn’t see a server for about ten minutes even though she was stopping at the adjacent tables (regulars, at least one of them). We finally placed our food and drink orders.
Don’t bother with the bourbon flight, it’s hardly a splash in each glass. For $14, not remotely worth the price. Most of the food was quite tasty, but the tofu tacos were a wet mess that just fell completely apart, and the dates they forgot we ordered came out burnt.
When trivia ended, we couldn’t find our server for approximately twenty minutes to pay our bill. None of the tables were able to pay the bill from what I could tell. The trivia host seemed to be looking for help, too. One of our group members was absolutely sick of waiting as she is quite pregnant and it was nearly 830, so she went downstairs to find someone. It was at this point they finally mentioned they would not split the bill. A heads up would have been helpful so we could plan around it. At least we got to leave since she had managed to find someone to pay. The other tables were still sitting there waiting.
Long story boring if it weren’t for the clearly understaffed environment and the lack of service, we would have been back. I wish they had just called to tell me they could not accommodate us instead. We won’t be back. We were really...
Read moreLaci's is back and as tasty as ever! If you're not familiar this is all about sharable small plates and most fun when you have a group of people to order a little of everything and split the bill. Overall everything we had was very good and I'll rank for you what we had and give a thought. Mac and Cheese Egg Rolls - perfection a must have Chicken Riggies - Delicious at every bite Brussel sprouts - plentiful, cooked well, nicely seasoned. Apple flatbread - fun combination of flavors, plenty to share. Asparagus - Amazing taste, not worth the price, barely anything on the plate. Mushrooms - Not bad, nothing special, cooked well, was oddly over flavored Salmon - Actually it was delicious... Sadly after the first bite it was raw inside and when they brought it out again it was still undercooked... Thankfully the staff was wonderful and accommodating and we did appreciate their quick and helpful response to get us something else.
Dessert we had the frozen bananas and apple pie bombs with ice cream. Both amazing!! Recommend letting the bananas warm up a little before you give yourself a brain freeze though.
We will be back to try more and hopefully get another shot at the Salmon. I do recommend giving Laci's...
