I had a very disappointing experience at Mooney's tonight. I was part of a large group that got together to share a meal. We had heard a lot of good things about Mooney's and decided to make the restaurant the location of our monthly get together. This was our first time meeting there and I'm pretty confident that I can speak for everyone that'll it probably be our last.
While most of us were happy with the food (the mac and cheese is delicious and the portions are very, very generous ) and the manager, when we were finally able to talk to her, was kind and patient but everything else about the experience was upsetting. The biggest complaint was the attitude of our wattress. She was extremely rude at times and flat out ignored a few of us in the group because of some sort of negative bias towards them. Others she was friendly and attentive.
I will be the first to admit that we part of the difficulties in our experience were our own fault. We didn't reserve for enough people but she was very inflexible to our increased need as more people showed up. While we understand her position her attitude towards us was unwarranted. The hostility I and several others felt from her was bothersome.
Most of the food was great but a few of the orders came out cold and another was came out wrong even though instructions regarding dietary issues were made clear and again the waitress responded with hostility at the repeated request to have the error corrected.
The last straw was the disaster that happened when the bill came. Since there are several of us we required to have the bill split up several ways. The waitress was unclear in her instructions about her limitations in splitting checks while ordering and did little to help us work out the issue. This whole situation upset several of us, brought a few to tears/anxiety.
This waitress was terrible one of the worst I've ever had and she basically ruined our evening out. We're also not happy that our bill included an auto gratuity because we felt she didn't deserve it. I might give Mooney's another try but it most likely will not be this specific location.
Lastly I just want to point out I'm not complaining about the restaurant policies but the attitude we encountered and how everything was handled. We made a mistake but that's not an excuse to be rude to us and we would have appreciated some understanding and to be treated with...

Oh I wasn’t all that good, believe me... I ordered your original mac n chz and a side of fries. OMGosh!!! The mac was wonderful and can’t believe the fries are good even cold! (IF I had a complaint, it would be cold fries, but it is to be expected when ordering to go.). I was out-voted for the lobster mac, but will be ordering that soon.
Looking forward to my next visit and making Mooney’s my new “go to” for take out.
Athena’s killed an over 2 decade patronage for serving RAW fries with a to go fish fry last Saturday and wouldn’t correct the order after I had returned twice thinking they had just forgot to put them in the bag. Instead, smugly choosing to close before their stated closing hours (it was close to closing) to fix my order and threw in a “hun” for good measure as if that made everything better... their food is awful now and to match it, so is their customer service. Such a shame that whomever is running it now is running it into the ground. They were close and my “go to” for take out for a very large family.
Mooney’s is equally as close, friendly, respectful and their quality and portions are far better, more than you could eat for lunch and dinner and worth every penny spent.
I realize the pandemic has adversely affected most businesses, some use it an excuse for the poor product and service they dish out and then there’s Mooney’s, who proves them all to be just a bunch of fakes, intentionally taking people’s hard-earned money with their lies, lack of pride and disgusting product.
Never settle for nasty! 🤢🤮🤑 you’ll only end up paying to throw away what should have never been served in the first place.

Read moreWe just tried to place an order here on the phone. It is Thurs Sept 1st. A girl in the kitchen answered. I preceded to give our order which consisted of 2 specialty sandwiches and a burger and 2 full sized Mac & cheese orders, one which was special. I then said could you read it back to me please because they have gotten our order wrong multiple times and it always seems to be the same one who took the order. Having said that, before I even finished asking her to repeat it she interrupted me and said in a rush that she had to get it in and there’s a line. I was stunned for a second at her rudeness and then said you know what forget it, you’re rude.... at which she kept talking over me saying don’t yell at me, over and over. I just kept repeating she was rude and point blank said we would never order from there again. I didn’t yell at her although certainly I conveyed how rude she was. I left a message on the supposedly manager’s voicemail but while I was doing so the restaurant called back and someone named Michael who claimed he was the kitchen manager called back to ask if we wanted the order to go through. He basically tried to justify her rudeness claiming they only had one computer. First off, I wasn’t taking my time ordering, I simply asked her to repeat what I ordered. Pretty unbusinesslike way to treat your customers. There’s a hundred other restaurants to order food and give business to so don’t put little snotty rude people on the phone who apparently have zero people skills. Where do they find...
