I ordered delivery for dinner through Uber Eats and followed up with the restaurant to double check on whether the items I had ordered were indeed vegan since nothing on the menu states explicitly what might be in the dish or denotes any particular allergies.
While I appreciate the helpfulness of the person who picked up my call along with the handwritten note after they further checked ingredients, I was somewhat disappointed that the upgraded garlic rice usually comes with egg (so I had that omitted) and the tofu katsu uses egg in the batter for breading (so we opted for teriyaki).
Upon arrival, there was a handwritten note stating that the teriyaki sauce was also not vegan (as it has Worcestershire sauce in it) so that was also left out so it was basically just pan-fried tofu. The saving grace of the meal was that I happened to also order gochujang sauce on the side and used that to flavor up the tofu. The Japanese BBQ sauce I ordered also had Worcestershire sauce in it so that was left out the order but was charged for it as well.
The vegetable gyoza were mass produced reheated dumplings which is fine I suppose but again, nothing too impressive.
For the Americanized palate and those who aren’t vegan, this is probably acceptable but I wasn’t impressed. Essentially paid full price while having the elements that would’ve made dinner more memorable and items I paid...
Read moreVisited last Friday on the 30th of May...and place was hectic. The food was taking forever to be served because there was one guy in the kitchen that seemed to be doing everything but looked confused. I was there by myself and there was the cashier with all his carving tools and wood and sharp objects and whatnot all over the counter...I believe it's very unprofessional and it could have been very dangerous. The floors in the front were quite dirty with some mud spots. There didn't seem to be a manager I could report to. The food tasted nice but took too long. The boba drinks don't seem to be authentic and powdery, too sweet There're some random artwork on the wall that looked out of place. Overall I wouldn't recommend unless there aren't any other options to choose from. There are definitely other boba tea places that are nicer,...
Read moreIt's wonderful to have a casual Japanese food option in Utica that's not just your run-of-the-mill sushi. The vegetarian options are excellent - particularly the tofu baos and tofu katsu bowl. The prices are a bit high, but you do get excellent food quality and the portions are generous - definitely worthwhile! Always upgrade to the garlic fried rice, you won't be disappointed! The front of house are the friendliest people and go out of their way to make your experience pleasant. If you want to eat-in, there are a few tables and chairs inside. Despite the restaurant being small, I've never run into a seating issue as most people seem to...
