Unpleasant Experience I would like to begin by expressing my continued support for Utica Roasting. Over the years, I’ve consistently enjoyed both the quality of your coffee and the exceptional service. However, my recent visit to the Utica location was unfortunately an exception, and I feel it’s important to share my experience. I placed an order for a few items, including a 24 oz pistachio latte. No clarification was made regarding whether I wanted it iced or hot. After paying and leaving a tip, I was approached by an employee who handed me an iced pistachio latte. I politely explained that I had wanted a hot one. Her response was not only dismissive, but she also stated, "You said iced!" as she walked away to prepare the correct drink. I understand that miscommunication can happen, but I was surprised by the lack of professionalism and the tone of her response. Firstly, she was not the employee who took my original order and, as such, had no way of knowing what was said. Secondly, as lattes are traditionally served hot, I did not specify iced or hot, assuming the standard preparation would apply. Finally, I believe that, regardless of the mix-up, there is no reason for rudeness in addressing the situation. This was particularly disappointing as I had made a point of tipping generously in advance, expecting a positive experience. Instead, I felt wrongly accused and treated discourteously. I value kindness and professionalism in customer service, and this experience fell short of those expectations. Going forward, I will be adjusting my approach and will be tipping only after receiving service. I hope this feedback can help improve the experience for...

I'm genuinely disappointed in this local coffee shop. For many weeks, I came in daily - as a pregnant, disabled woman - to ask for a simple cup of ice water, something that used to be freely given. Now, suddenly, there's a charge for water. I understand that businesses need to make money, but charging for basic hydration - especially in the heat of summer, in a walkable neighborhood, where not everyone has a car or easy access to water - feels incredibly insensitive and exclusionary.

In my case, it's more than just inconvenience - the tap water in my building is unsafe. I contracted hepatitis A from it, so I have to get water from outside. Carrying home gallons from the grocery store every other day isn't physically possible for me. I relied on this coffee shop for a basic human need, and now I feel shut out over a policy that lacks empathy and community awareness.

What message does it send when a local business refuses water unless you pay? That basic dignity is only for paying customers?

I used to think of this place as a welcoming space. Now, I'm not so sure. I hope they take a hard look at this policy and consider the people they're turning away - not just me, but anyone who simply needs safe, clean water in a tough moment.

I've supported this business for a year getting my favorite drink, a peanut butter frappe with vanilla base; so delicious; and believed in its role as a community space, but this decision left me feeling unwelcome and overlooked. I hope you reconsider this policy - not just for me, but for anyone who needs a moment of kindness more than a transaction. Not sure if this review will be removed but yeah; there's my two...

You guys. I just met my new BFF Cori. She and her husband bought a farm during Covid, but she's a people-person & needed to get back to work, and her former boss brought her back on at Utica Coffee Roasting. That's one of the things I learned on our first friend date. By "friend date," I mean she is the amazing barista who served me this morning and chatted with me as she made my drink. I ordered my usual - an iced breve latte. This time I asked for some honey in it, though. Cor (we are BFFs now, so I can call her that) asked if I had ever tried the lavender with the honey. Hold. The Front Door. LAVENDER? She added some of that floral deliciousness to my honey and Shazam!! It's so good! I also ordered up a pound of beans to go, but then C (we truly are besties, so she doesn't mind that I call her that) told me I could save a buck if I went with two pounds. I'm pretty sure that's a deal anyone can get even if they are not best buds with the best barista in Utica. I've said before that I love this place & always leave feeling like I've just made a friend. That's still the case. So WAKE THE HELL UP & go to Utica Coffee. Note: It might be Kori or Korrie or Corey or Cory. I will need to get that straight before I send her birthday card.

Attentive and friendly staff with solid espresso This coffee house offers a plethora of coffee drinks and espresso on a relatively quiet street right off of the main highway. The outside of the building is bright and colorful and they offer outdoor seating. The inside of the shop had a cool ambiance provided by the metal tall tables, comfortable seats, and well lit (but dim) lights. As your walk past the tables and chairs you are greeted by a wall of take home coffee on the right and the bar to your left. The staff was friendly and quick (only ordered an espresso which they only do doubles). The checkout was a breeze and there was ample seating at the time we went (early lunch). If you happen to be swinging by on your way through Utica, give it a shot. It's worth the few minutes off the highway.

This place is a MUST see if you ever pass by the city of Utica. It's probably the best coffee shop in the city. It has really cool urban vibes that are completed by the industrial style of the place. The coffee itself is of wonderful quality, taste, price and strength. This being personally important since I don't like coffee that hides what it is like, what they have at Starbucks. The only real issue is that being so popular, the place is usually really busy and noisy, which doesn't make it a five-star for atmosphere. I'd personally recommend you order takeout. However, the awesome coffee and great service definitely make up for this, I encourage yall to give it a try!!! ☕️☕️☕️
