Here is a weekend review of the worst kind. Place is called Gianna’s and located right off N. Broadway. I’ve heard of this place from a couple of friends, who both said it was good, and wanted to try something new. Looking at the menu, nothing out of the ordinary for a traditional Italian joint. I ordered the seafood salad which, according to the menu, had shrimp, calamari and scungilli. When the salad arrived it had NO scungilli. I called one of the waiters over and pointed this out. He sent over my waiter who said, “we have no scungilli”. Of course I sent it back. Not only was I not told when I ordered it, but I am dumbfounded that they would have charged me the same price without the most expensive component of the dish. My wife had a house salad with creamy vinaigrette which had absolutely NO flavor, no idea how they accomplished this. For my lunch main I had a chicken parm roll. It came with no sauce inside, first mistake, but a side of sauce and a terrible one at that, tasted like jar sauce. Look at the attached picture, NO SPICES. My wife ordered a Margherita pizza which was NOT what us REAL Italians consider a Margherita. There is NO slices of tomatoes on a Margherita pizza, PERIOD! Just because you throw fresh basil on a pie doesn’t automatically make it a Margherita. The pizza had ABSOLUTELY NO FLAVOR. I’ve read up on the reviews on the joint and I am shocked to see that overall they are good. Goes to show you that people really don’t know good Italian food nor do they know how traditional pizzas should come to your table, there is NO variations, PERIOD! I am glad that we played it safe and it was a cheap lunch due to selection or I would have been more pissed then I am right now. Wasn’t one Italian in site, maybe that’s why their food is terrible and I wouldn’t go back for free. The servers were nice and attentive but not explaining that the most expensive part of your dish is not available and still bring it for the same price is INEXCUSABLE, but I blame the establishment for this. If an Italian chef passes on the trade of food to another Nationality, do it with respect for the food and DO IT RIGHT or else YOU are the problem. I give this joint a 1 cause they did NOTHING right. Total disgrace and I would eat fast food before I’d eat here again! Till the next time my foodie friends, I hope it will be a better one,...
Read moreAfter many years since they first opened and were only half the size, Gianna's Restaurant on North Broadway remains our favorite lunchtime spot in Yonkers. My father and I have enjoyed many meals here, and it continues to impress us with its consistent quality and friendly atmosphere. Gianna's offers great specials that keep us coming back. The bar is well-stocked, and the food is simply amazing. Their Italian chicken pasta dishes are always a good choice, and the pizza is a standout. In fact, we’d rate it a 9/10 on the Dave Portnoy scale. Be sure to ask for the four cheese pizza—it's a must-try. The staff at Gianna's are great and always friendly. The bathrooms are clean, and the convenience of the parking lot outside is a big plus. The skirt steak special is delicious, and their penne with vodka sauce and chicken cutlet is highly recommended. Additionally, their chicken francese is a delightful option. The stuffed sole is another great dish that shouldn't be missed. One of the unique highlights is their house-made fruit vodka, sometimes flavored with pineapple, which is delicious. It's a great place to enjoy a drink, whether you're stopping by for a meal or just a drink at the bar. Their martinis are particularly enjoyable. For dessert, the Nutella pizza and espresso are outstanding, providing a perfect sweet end to a fantastic meal. Gianna's is conveniently located next door to hospitals, movie studios, and hotels, making it a top spot in town for both locals and tourists. It's a family restaurant that consistently serves good food, making it a reliable choice for any occasion. In summary, Gianna's Restaurant on North Broadway remains a top spot in Yonkers. With its amazing food, great specials, friendly staff, and clean facilities, it’s no wonder it has become our go-to lunchtime...
Read moreOrdered catering from here for my son’s first birthday party. We spent over $800 and the service was subpar! To start things off, they were almost an hour late. The delivery person was very unprofessional. He helped set up a little bit and then just left. He did not ask us to sign or anything. We spent the next 30 plus minutes putting water underneath the trays in front of our guests. Then we realized that they did not give us enough plates for the amount of people/food and did not give us any of the serving spoons that they said they would. My husband called them asking them to bring more plates and serving spoons but their response was that it’s too far. We had to scrounge around the venue looking for them. I also ended up going out to buy plates because we ran out. Absolutely unacceptable!!
Later that evening when we went to return the racks they had the audacity to let us know that there was an automatic 10% tip for the driver and that there was a credit card processing fee. They did not mention either things to us when we initially ordered. And to be fair we were going to tip 20% but because of the awful service we decided not to.
In terms of the food, some of it was good and some were average. The pasta salad had way too much vinegar and the salad dressing for the house salad was tasteless. Those were the only two trays left that were nearly full and I was wondering why at the time. Everything else was empty. (Since I was the host I didn’t eat much). Took them home to have for lunch and that’s when I knew why.
Overall, we had a terrible experience with this place and will not be doing business...
