I recently visited Untermyer Gardens Conservancy in Yonkers, and it’s absolutely breathtaking! Just a quick 45-minute drive from Flushing, it’s the perfect spot for a day trip if you’re looking to escape into nature and soak in some stunning scenery.

The moment I walked into the Persian inspired Walled Garden, I was blown away by the intricate tilework and the vibrant array of flowers. The roses, tulips, and irises were in full bloom, filling the air with their incredible fragrance. As I continued exploring, I came across dahlias, peonies, wisteria, azaleas, and spider lilies, all adding their own unique beauty to the garden. It felt like I was walking through a living, breathing painting.

One of my favorite moments was standing by the Temple of Love, which sits above a series of cascading waterfalls. The sound of the water combined with the surrounding flowers made it such a peaceful experience. I also loved the Vista, which offers sweeping views of the Hudson River and the Palisades ,a view that’s truly unforgettable.

The gardens are so well-kept; you can tell how much care and attention goes into maintaining every detail. I noticed a lot of bees buzzing around the flowers, doing their part to keep the garden lush and vibrant. Their gentle hum added to the tranquility of the space, making it even more special.

Untermyer Gardens is a must-visit for anyone who loves nature, history, or simply needs a peaceful retreat. It’s a hidden gem that I’m so glad I discovered, and I can’t...

I can't believe that I've lived in New York all my life and just found out about this place! I came here this past October and was immediately blown away.

This park was once part of the estate of Samuel Untermyer, a prominent New York lawyer, and his wife Minnie. It’s 43-acres of gardens, landscaped hills and structures overlooking the Hudson River. It’s free to enter with limited parking spaces. We went on an Autumn week day (52°F) and there were plenty of parking spots available.

For me, the Walled Garden was the most beautiful section of this park. Even though it was the end of the growing season, they had plenty of fall blooms and color. The gardeners have done an amazing job of putting together an interesting combination of plants, shrubs and trees to coincide with the architecture.

My second favorite section was the Temple of Love (I could be romantic☺). It’s a man made cantilevered structure with cascading water falls and aquatic plants. And it overlooks the Hudson. A perfect place to take pictures with your honey.

Third on my list is the Vista Overlook. The view is amazing and the descent is an experience. I can’t imagine how beautiful it must look on a moonlit night.

Can’t wait to go visit it again...
