Had a disappointing experience here and I know for a fact I'll never be going back. It seemed unusual that we were seated separately from the main floor of the restaurant but thought nothing of it. When asked what we would like to drink, she seemed annoyed that we requested water. Also seemed strange to me but again, I just brushed it off.
The restaurant is all you can eat, with each person charged $28.99 (or higher if you choose one of the special meat or seafoods). Time limit is 2 hours. All fine and dandy, sounds good right? Well, first it took quite a while to bring the meats out. Secondly, most places like this will have thinner cut meat for the meats that take long to cook. This place? Not at all. Most of it is all cut pretty thick, and the grill plate had some fairly low heat compared to other places I've been to, meaning you're going to be waiting a while for it all to cook. And the server is the ones who cook for you, not you, meaning you have to wait for them to return. That, we did not do, because our server placed our meat down and didn't return for nearly an hour (we took up the meat ourselves before that). Even worse, it seemed our server was making a conscious effort to avoid us because she straight up ignored us when we called.
There were a few more minor annoyances but in the end, each of us was only able to order 2 meats and a small bowl of rice each by roughly the 1h40m mark, and anyone who's been to places like these know that they don't carry out much of each meat. Not to mention the food was actually quite underwhelming. Definitely not worth $28.99. It's not even worth $5. Go to...
Read moreI have been coming to this restaurant for almost twenty years in its various reincarnations under the same ownership: from Kang Suh (affiliated with the now defunct Kang Suh restaurant in Manhattan) to this latest all you can eat Korean BBQ reinvention.
This is the best Korean bbq restaurant in Westchester County at the moment. Sadly, that's not saying much.
The good news however is that this is a solid choice for Korean bbq for the price. As long as you stay away from the unmarinated sirloin steak and brisket. Stick to marinated bulgogui and pork ribs and you will be happy. The free stews are solid but not spectacular. Ditto for the banchan side dishes.
Overall, this is my go-to Korean bbq place in Westchester County on days when I can't go to Manhattan...
Read moreWe had to change our rating. They changed the menu, effective tonight - No longer a traditional Korean restaurant, it's a price fix all-you-can-eat Korean Barbeque. We used to go here regularly because you could get a hot pot and grilled fish, with all the bon-chan, and get out for $35 for two, satiated with healthy food. Now it's almost $30/person, for food I'm not going to eat. Someone got greedy. Instead of healthy Korean traditional food, they're going for maximum margin on sales, encouraging gluttony, and totally away from the food-as-medicine tradition of Korean food. Pass. We loved this place. Off...
