UPDATED REVIEW: Up until tonight Sophia's WAS my go to. I ordered my food from an app and tracked my order for pick up. There was an item I wanted that was not on the menu 😕. I've ordered this item from this place on numerous occasions. I saw something similar on the menu, I ordered it, but noted in the customized area what I initially wanted. I arrived at Sophia's on time to pick up my order. There was a white female being served ahead of me, so I patiently waited. The server was an older white male. He seemed so patient and interested in serving the patron ahead of me. She ordered her slice and once it was boxed and ready to go she changed her mind and ordered another slice for later. INSTEAD of taking her order and assisting me, the next customer. He commenced on doing miniscule duties, avoiding interaction with me. The workers on the side saw how observing I was of this servers behavior. My initial look upon entry into the establishment had changed from happy to unhappy and concerned. The workers in the back were also alerted by the worker upfront, who was mixing the pizza dough. He said something in Spanish and they all came to see what was happening in the front. I waited until the patrons order was ready, for the server to come back to the counter to serve. All the while, I am waiting for an order placed online and ready for pick up. He then gets to me. I say, I'm here for a pickup of an online order. He says, "What?", I say "half and half" ...he completes the statement with "extra large?" I say, "yes"...this Pizza has been ready...sitting on top of the oven from before I walked in the store. I attempt to ask about the order I customized. Before I could complete my statement...he CUTS ME OFF SAYING; "NO, we don't have that so I could give you $2". At that point the worker upfront, who is watching and hearing everything says, "WE DO have knots". The server doesn't say anything to me other than, "gimme 2 minutes". As he's walking away...I ask about the last item ordered in my order. He acted like he didn't hear me, so I said it louder again, this man asked "was that on the order too"?. I asked if it was ready?... WITHOUT ANSWERING, he went to the back and appeared with the salad...I must say, I Surely didn't feel the interest and attention the customer before me received. I know the workers in the back felt that too. Every other time I have visited this restaurant, I have no complaints. There's usually a cute guy with nice eyebrows in the front or someone more welcoming and appropriate to ALL. THIS OLD GUY gave me str8 not cool vibes...I really did not appreciate the nasty undertones. ..Not cool Sophia's. THAT SERVER GETS AN F.
Soooo Sophia's is my go to...I love the Stromboli... it's made to order however which way you like it. The South Beach Salad is amazing 👏🏽. I'm sure there's more, but those are...
Read moreWe've been searching for a good local pizzeria after our long term favorite of "pizza in the square" closed permanently. Our quest had been pretty uneventful until I came here for the first time last night and I'm confident we finally found our new spot.
It's always a good sign when customers seem comfortable and converse with the staff like regulars which I noticed here while waiting for my food. In addition, the kitchen was busy with not only preparing take out and dine-in orders but also a sizeable delivery of many boxes of pizza which was packaged with care and carried outside. The menu offers an array of pizza toppings, pasta, soups, heroes, salads and appetizers. There are also daily specials on offer.
For myself I opted for the simple classic of a small 14" cheese pizza and two orders of garlic knots. They made the pizza fresh and asked me first if I was okay with waiting for it. (Roughly 20 mins.) I also added a slice of cheesecake for dessert. It was large enough to divide it in halves to share. Their dessert options also included zappolis and almond cake which I'd love to try next time.
We took the order home and to say we enjoyed it is putting it mildly. The pizza was fantastic- perfect amount of cheese, flavorful sauce and crispy fluffy crust. The garlic knots were the best we've ever had. No exaggeration. Soft, pull apart texture, mouth watering garlic seasoning with a small dipping sauce of marinara included on the side which was not at all bitter or acidic like we've had in other places. The cheesecake as well was a generous helping of smooth, creamy filling that was so good I instantly regretted not having bought another.
⭐️ All in all: courteous staff, diverse menu options, reasonable pricing, flavorful and well prepared food, good atmosphere and small but comfortable dine in area.
A definite recommendation for anyone else searching for a new...
Read moreThe worst experience we had in a restaurant. We had pizza from here before and being good, but never “fancy stuff” just simple: pizza, chicken wings, or a sandwich. This time we tasted how bad it is the food when it comes to ask for something else: Fried Calamari (it was burnt, and bad!) Cold Antipasto ( they sent us a salad we coldcuts rolled!!!! Seriously!!!!!???), we ask for Chicken Parmesan Calzone (they didn’t sent it at the beginning, and when we called they sent us a “calzone” with stake!!!!!), the pizza was average, the Garlic bread (it was so bad that not body eat it! SOOOO BADDDDDD! A 5 years old did it maybe, it was totally a joke!), AND on top of the disaster, they told us 1 hour, and it was 1.35 minutes and we call because food was not yet delivered, and they are literally few blocks from us! We asked for delivery because we have guests in home, which they wanted to pay, imagine the embarrassment when they paid, and this restaurant did a complete disaster with the food! We were trying to figure it out if because a sunday will be this mess, but there is no excuse to send food that way…. OH! They sent us a cheesecake seems like as a “sorry” that I did not even touch because how bad was the food and did not want to try anything else! You guys need to organiza yourselfs! If you see a meal is not your specialty, or you are in rush time, say to customer “Sorry that is not available today, or whatever, BUT NOT SEND THAT GARBAGE TO SOMEONE HOUSE! That delivery was almost $200 ($10 tip for delivery). Get your business worth it! Please! If you sell fancy things in the menu, make sure you know how to doit, not send something that McDonalds can do for...
