As a seasoned restaurant reviewer with extensive experience dining in some of the best restaurants across New York City, Yonkers, and beyond, I am thrilled to update my review for Zuppa in Yonkers after many wonderful years. My father, who was a top pharmaceutical speaker in the country, and I have had the pleasure of dining here for many years, and Zuppa remains one of our top choices.
From the moment you arrive, the convenience of valet parking sets the tone for an excellent dining experience. Zuppa boasts two beautifully decorated rooms and a downstairs wine cellar, perfect for intimate dinners or large family functions. The spacious and clean bathrooms add to the overall comfort.
Eddie Didi, the proprietor and professional chef, is not only a dear friend of my father but also a culinary genius. Eddie, the head chef for the city of Yonkers who also teaches at an academy, brings an unmatched passion and knowledge to his craft. He’s incredibly nerdy about his food; talking to him about what he is serving you is always an enlightening experience. Each ingredient is carefully selected and sourced for a reason, ensuring consistent quality and a delicious menu.
One of Zuppa’s hidden gems is their gourmet pizza. It’s not your typical slice; it’s a custom creation. The fig and cheese pizza with prosciutto is legendary and a must-try. The pizzas are crisp, fresh, and thin-crusted, offering a unique and delightful taste.
The appetizers are generous and well-prepared, and the main courses never disappoint. On a recent visit, I inquired about the source of their salmon after watching a documentary. Eddie explained in detail how he sources and handles his salmon, showing photos of the produce and meat. The flesh of the Atlantic salmon is thick and wild-raised, while the Pacific wild salmon is noted for its vibrant redness. Both are served to perfection and are absolutely delicious.
Zuppa is also ideal for hosting parties. They excel at family functions, having successfully managed gatherings of nearly 100 people with ease. The left room can be reserved for private events, and their execution of buffets and Josephine parties is impressive. However, my personal favorite is enjoying a quiet weekday dinner.
The bartenders are pleasant, and the drinks are top-notch with well-done pours. The atmosphere and decor of Zuppa complement the high-quality dining experience, making it one of the best places in Westchester and undoubtedly one of the best in the six boroughs, including Yonkers.
In conclusion, Zuppa is a 6 out of 5 stars restaurant in my book. Whether you’re looking for a place to host a family event or simply enjoy a weekday dinner, Zuppa’s excellent management, delicious food, and inviting atmosphere make it a standout choice. My father and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking quality...
Read morehad high hopes for this place but don't think I'd return. I'd tried ordering from here once before but they were closed for a private event.
The ordering process was painless and the food was only 15 mins from being ready. Parking for pick up is terrible but expected.
When I was placing my order, I asked the hostess if the menu on the website was right since I did notice it said 2020 and wanted the roasted chicken entree. I gather this is likely a staple for them in rotation because she said yes. The problem is, I was expecting to get polenta and carrots with my chicken and instead got quinoa and asparagus; neither of which I'm a fan of Unfortunately, I didn't realize until I got home so I had to find something else to eat. When I called to ask about the mix up, I was told that the menu was right so when I checked again, that was when I found the discrepancy. There are two different menus on the website (pictures attached). Kitchen said they didn't even have polenta. I would have even been happy with potatoes but no resolution was offered.
My friend got the Troffie which is just pasta with beef ragout. She said it was okay but the beef was sparse.
Also, when I was paying for the food, I handed the hostess two fifty dollar bills to cover my $51 bill; to which she replied "Thanks; good night!" Not sure if a "tip" that large is customary here but it was pretty awkward asking for my change.
If you're ordering from here, be sure to navigate to the drop down to find the correct menu since it doesn't seem like they keep the website links updated properly.
Two stars because the pasta was okay according to my friend and service was quick. We...
Read moreSeriously consider eating here if you have dietry requirements. I had my wedding meal here with around 25 guests. Called a while beforehand stating two of my guests were vegan, and I would need menus. The person I talked to said they had good options for vegans and we were all set. Pity I believed them. When we got there I asked my vegan guests what they were having, one had a plate of leaves called a salad and some bread. The other was assured their order of Zucchini meatballs was vegan, but when she went to try it. Instantly tasted the milk cheese and proceeded to run out to the bathroom. It wasn't met with sincerity of the establishment. One waiter tried his hardest and although I know miscommunications happens and it was a big table I expect dietry restrictions to be respected. People get to choose what goes in their bodies. I, the bride, had to go and leave my other guests to comfort my friend, and she was upset for the rest of her week in visiting me from the UK. I didn't hear from the manager at all, perhaps he couldn't simply be bothered. But I wouldn't recommend to other people. In the end we still spent over $1400 and I was assured some discount was made but with the hustle and bustle my lovely guests paid the final bill and I didn't get to see it. Very disappointed and think others should know as what if my friend was horribly allergic to cheese? These things need to be heavily considered. Rating given due to table being nicely set up, and quick service with drinks, but then again that benefits the...
