This review is WAY over due!! First off, I'm happy to say I've become a regular here & here's why! It started off with just stopping in for a drink, they provide endless chips & salsa & you know when the salsa is delicious, the food is too :) I could say I've since tried all the margaritas here & though none have never disappointed, the Casa Grande Cadillac Margarita is my go to/ FAVE. Their michelada is the best in town too. Okay now food, ahhh where do I start?? Nachos, Flautas, Enchiladas, Enchiladas Al Comal, Fajitas, TACOS, this is everything I've tried on the menu, all the protein choices are delicious & I know I'm probably missing some of what I've tried but I stand by my word when I say everything I've had here is AMAZING!!! Now I know Claremont has their share of Mexican restaurants here & there but when I say Casa Maguey is above them all, IT'S TRUE. Casa Maguey also offers Brunch every Saturday & Sunday & also hosts Taco Tuesday! So brunch, yes bottomless mimosas are included but THE BUFFET! Holy sh*t, from menudo to chilaquiles, chile verde, all the enchilada choices, omelette bar, tacos & ceviche bar!? Outta this world delicious. It's a MUST. Now taco Tuesday (my personal favorite) just know that no matter the protein choice of anything you order here, you won't be disappointed. Taco Tuesday starts at 3:00pm to close, tortillas are hand made, you get to choose from asada, carnitas, pollo, birria, & potato tacos, all are so f'n good. Tacos are $3 each (generously served) & include sides (frijoles & papas) & a full salsa/ toppings bar. For the price, it's sooooo filling and makes for the perfect lunch/ dinner. Also their chicken soup hits perfect on a chilly day and you can't go wrong with their chicken ceasar salad, it's rare that I even recommend a soup & salad. Now that I'm past the food, the staff is the absolute sweetest, you'll never not feel welcomed here, they appreciate all their customers & are so happy to recommend their faves off the menu as well. Beyond friendly, absolutely love em'! There's always good music playing & if you don't wanna sit inside, there's a cute heated patio right outside to enjoy the charm that Claremont has to offer. Casa Maguey is a true gem and so are the owners & staff that run it. They truly care about the food & your experience. I love it! Where do I leave off? Hmm, see ya at taco Tuesday or brunch! I really hope this review helps you make your choice the next time you want amazing Mexican food or the best margarita in Claremont the next time you're in the area & hungry. I gotta learn take more pics of my food, so stay tuned for more added to this review! Cheers! :))

I've been eyeing this place for awhile now. The two things that kept me from trying it sooner was my schedule and the distance I had to travel to get there. I usually find new places while I'm out and about and this one was a little off my usual travel. So I finally decided to go there even though my invited guests couldn't make it. It wasn't too difficult to find but it's not viewable from the street. After I parked the car, I crossed the street and walked to where the address indicated. I saw a small sign that pointed me in the right direction, which was inside to a walkway that led to a little plaza of sorts. Sure enough, it was there along with other stores there. So I walked in and was greeted immediately, that was nice. I let the young lady know this was my first time there. The place is very nice and spacious. A gentleman came and said hello and sat me down at the table I had asked for. I hit it off with him right away and we had a nice conversation. He was very patient and answered every question I asked, being my first time and all. After he set me up with what I needed, I first looked at the variety of meats and sides they had. Did I mention I was there for Taco Tuesday? So I got in line, handed over my ticket, which indicates how many tacos you're ordering, and the nice lady makes fresh tortillas right in front of you for your tacos. Nice. She then asks you what kind of meats you want on your tacos and hands you your plate. From there you can add any toppings to your tacos, plus, they have potatoes, beans and other sides that you can serve yourself. I did enjoy the tacos and the conversation I had with the people I met. My plan is to go again but on a Saturday for their breakfast buffet. Hopefully my friend can make it this time.

My party and I attended a "soft opening" for a pre-Mother's Day meal. The restaurant ambience was great, not crowded, and bustling with excited patrons. The menus were hard to read with the small type, but with the 9 of us we worked it out. Ordered a wide variety of items from the menu starting with appetizers and ending with dessert. The service was slow and our waiter seemed to not be familiar with the menu items, but we still enjoyed ourselves. If you like dining outdoors, check out the dining area with its cool lighting. A few things I noticed were the use of frozen avocado with a lot of our selections from ceviche to several entree items. While the meals were tasty, the over-use of salt was a turn off. The kiddos could not eat their meals which required an additional stop to accommodate them after our meal. I will give this restaurant another chance in the future and hope they have improved on seasoning their meal options. My suggestion to CM: 1. Serve a large party such as ours, a larger basket of chips and salsa. 2. Decrease the salt. 3. Substitue frozen avocado for fresh avocado or at least it out.

This place has awesome customer Survice INSIDE when you book or eat outside they don’t provide any of the customer they give you inside . Drinks are you utensils or napkins? It’s only upon asking when you go and eat inside. They have all of it ready for you by the time you sit down.. the food is on point every time it’s perfectly made with a lot of love and the presentation is amazing looks very authentic. The main manager there is hot lol and has an amazing attitude..very welcoming. 10.00 gives you unlimited mimosas..on the weekends. I think only weekends. The only problem I have is on Mother’s Day or Father’s Day the price changes they rack up the prize for 50% more than what you pay on any other days so it’s $25 I’m thinking or $15 for the buffet but the Father’s Day they charge $50 and no does it say online that they charge you $50 nowhere where does it say how much they charge in the front of the restaurant there’s nowhere that says hey come join us on Father’s Day only $50 for the buffet. It doesn’t say anything about how much it charges. The only thing it does show you that it’s 1595 on the side of the building for the buffet, but it doesn’t say anything about the $50 now it does say it however if you scan a QR code that is at the front table then you gotta get in there and that’s when it says it, but they don’t tell you how much the buffet is Until after you’ve a.m. and that is the biggest thing I have with them because my bill came up to two times what it would be if I would have paid the normal price. This is my only thing I wish I can get a refund for my money back or you can call my bank, but I’m not gonna be that low, but I really think they need to make adjustments as far as putting their prices up, especially when it changes and let everybody know the surprising people you would think on a Mother’s Day or Father’s Day. The prices would go lower because they want more people to come and eat with them Instead of going somewhere else because they want more of the service but now that wasn’t the case when you sit outside, it is super super intensively hot. They have no water things that come out to spray you. The sun is right in your face. Everything melts ice cream. Food looks very nasty it just it’s not a good feeling or look outside me personally, I would say especially during the summer or even in the heat it’s not a very good place. They need to do an upgrade on that if they want more service And the inside is great like I said the manager is awesome that the crew there is amazing. The food is on point. Everything is great other than that they needed to switch something up with the prices cause I would really really love to you know invite more people here to bring them more service that would be super awesome but at the same time I feel like They need to be upfront with the cost of their buffet moving forward But I would so appreciate a complementary one day with my family for free considering we had to pay two times what we would have paid, but I doubt that...

This is my second visit to this establishment. The bad service is consistent for both visits. First visit was a pretty big party so I gave them the benefit of the doubt and didn’t write a review or completely write the place off. I decided to give it another try with a group of friends that had never been before since the food was good the last time and it was only a party of 7 this go round. It was 98 degrees out so we decided to sit inside, thinking we would escape the heat and enjoy our meal and drinks - the joke was on us!!! Inside the restaurant was unbearable. As soon as we sat down you can feel the heat. I asked multiple times of the air can be lowered a bit and was told that it was just lowered so give it sometime to kick in, so we did. 45 min later it felt like someone turned up the heat. I honestly thought it was a ploy to get people in and out since it was bottomless mimosas. Well, it’s “bottomless”, if you can get a server to come back and fill your glass - 2 hours and we got one glass each. Not one of us enjoyed our meal since we couldn’t get past the heat. Which was disappointing because the food is good. We showed up 15 min early to our reservation, understanding buffet times can be out of everyone’s control but 30min after our reservation time was disappointing. We were sat at a table with no silverware. We had to ask for our silverware multiple times and had to sit and wait for it, with our plates in front of us. We asked for drinks and the really helpful man was not the nicest but I don’t blame him, I was sitting doing nothing and was dying from the heat, I could imagine how irritable he was having to run all over. I felt really bad for him. We asked for our check twice, after waiting 20min I finally got up, walked to the waiter and asked him for it at the station. Three of us paid with cards so that was easy. One paid with cash and needed change. I had to once again, after 10min of waiting, walk over and get the change myself. We all just wanted to get out of that furnace.

This place is understaffed. That was the same observation from the bigger party experiance as well. We were having to go to the bar ourselves to get our drinks. Same issue with the utensils and delay on anything you asked for. The weather was cooler so being outside was nice, if I had to sit inside and knew how hot it was. I wouldn’t have chosen this place for my friends.

Now that I’ve given it a second chance and see that this establishment is not looking to get better -I’ve read other reviews with the same complaint, I will not be recommending it to anyone. As a matter of fact, if you are reading this, trust me!! Go elsewhere. Elvira’s is right down the street and it’s always comfortable there.

I’m giving this review a 2 because the food is good. The people in the kitchen cook with heart and I respect that. It’s too bad the service doesn’t...
