Update 01/2024. Fantastic store and staff. Truly, kudos to the owner/operator of this store. The people Iâve encountered are absolute gems. So genuinely kind. Nothing feels better than that. We, my twin teens and I, both sell and shop at DeeLux and will continue to. Brava on a wonderful business model and your staff- all around- are truly outstanding treasures. I wish every store I frequented made us feel so validated and valued.
For the low star reviews- absolutely skip these because these people clearly donât understand that this store has to stay in business and just because you bought clothes at Macys, Nordstromâs or wherever does not mean it is âon trendâ youâll learn this if you take your time and list your own clothing on eBay, poshmark, Mercari- etc.
It reminds me of my mom whoâs shelled out so much money to department stores wanting dept store sales at our garage sale- like, thatâs not how it works.
Itâs unfair to penalize the business because you donât have what they UNDERSTAND SELLS. They know their market and what moves.
As a reseller on the above aforementioned platforms, I think this store is totally fair and they know the trends. Donât leave a poor review because your things donât align with their market. Itâs not fair to penalize them for your lack of understanding how reselling works and most of all not understanding the trends. No one cares if you paid $200 for shoes. If they are not what the people (customers) are asking for, theyâre not going to get bought and you are definitely not getting $200 unless they can sell it for +30% more than that at the very least. Same with new with tag, if it is not on trend- itâs moot what you paid.
I encourage ALL parents with teens/college kids to see if they can sell their clothes and if what they donât sell- they can list on depop like my kids do/ and sell.
If youâre of a mature age, temper your expectations. Itâs probably that if you donât have clothes from your teen/young adult years- your things wonât be favorable- this is purely from the standpoint of understanding what the customers are looking for when they come in to make purchases and not sell.
My teens both sell and shop this store and itâs never anything I could personally choose for them because what I think is âinâ is absolutely not.
In that case I make a free listing on OfferUp and give clothes directly to people who need them if I canât get them to move on eBay or poshmark.
Original Review Really lovely staff and store! You can sell your clothes and you can choose between cash or store credit (double the amount of cash). I love that flexibility. They have really unique items. We love shopping, selling, shopping lol,l. I love how well organized everything is. Hands down, Worth supporting and doing business with.
I wanted to address some other reviewers because theyâve clearly missed the memo. 1) youâre not going to get your perception of value, and if you think you can sell your own clothes for more, take the time, effort and energy to do so. 2) they canât accept everything. Whoever is sorting through your things understands whatâs on trend and most likely to sell. People arenât looking for everything you have. 3) they have employees, overhead, etc etc.and from my experience selling on eBay and poshmark, their prices are typically far less than what youâll find there. 4) really consider what your goal is when leaving stars. I donât think this store or personnel deserve any less than 5 stars Iâve been to very expensive stores where they treat patrons like garbage- thatâs the kind of store that deserves low ratings. Really unfortunate- be responsible...
Read moreSo. Look, I know no store selling used clothing is under any obligation whatsoever to actually buy my stuff. But there's a way to go about these things. I walked into their store today with a pair of Clark's shoes I literally paid $200 for, and wore one day for a casting call. I'm an actor and the call was for a trendy MD resident. I got the flipping part. I also brought along a Polo sweater I'd purchased earlier in the month that turned out to be too small. While the store was checking my two items, I walked about, looked and literally ran across multiple fairly meh outfits in their racks. Ok. I get it. They still have no obligation to buy my stuff. But to look me in the face and tell me - dismissively - my stuff wasn't trendy enough? Really? Have you seen your racks? Plus, thanks for the insult. Anyway, this is really quality, new, and - yes - trendy clothing. Plus, DeeLux did this to me once before (yeah, I know. "fool me once ..."; thing is, the place is right up the street). Afterward, I drove across town to Melrose, walked into the "swankiest," pickiest used clothing store there and sold stuff immediately to them, for which I'd been rejected as "not trendy enough" a few hours earlier at this place. Before slogging all the way across town to either buy or sell anything at DeeLux, seriously, consider how valuable your time is. Horrible service. Horrible...
Read moreI went to DeeLux two days ago. I had some nice brand new blouses that I never wore and I also had two purses. One of the purses was a nice evening clutch bag and the other was a brand new imitation Louis Vuitton purse. The lady went through my things and told me that she couldn't take any of my things. I asked her why and she said that they only take "trendy" items. Wow! I was shocked because the blouses that I was trying to sell were made by Vera Wang. I asked her about the Louis Vuitton purse and she told me that they only accept the "real" Louis Vuitton purses. On another two occasions, I had sold them two "real" used coach purses and a "real" brand new Michael Kors purse. The coach purses were in really good condition. They offered me $115.00 for all of the purses. I was lead to believe that I was getting this amount. When I was ready to check out, I was told if I take the cash it would be $65.00 or if I wanted a store credit it would be $115.00. I was really upset!!! I thought I was getting the full amount that they quoted me from the beginning! This is really bad business!!! I wouldn't recommend anyone to sell their...
