Mr You Express — Restaurant in Claremont

This place has good food and big portions, however that doesn't excuse the complete lack of professionalism and disregard for their customers. The many times I've been here, I have experienced bad customer service, but it has just been annoying more than anything. Tonight I had a completely horrible experience, and I regret to say this was the last time I will eat here.

They had a herd of people behind the counter and a line of about 5-7 people (myself included) yet only two people were helping customers. The others were gossiping with two girls that were sitting at the side of the counter as if it was a mini bar. The things they were talking about were rude and vulgar, completely unprofessional. Once the line grew a little longer, the two girls that were gossiping with the other ones decided to help some of the customers.

One girl was helping the guy in front of me and when he requested steamed rice, she decided that would be a great opportunity for her to walk back to where the steamed rice is, and start gossiping with the girls sitting at the counter/mini bar. He just stood there, as confused as I was probably that she would think it a good time to go talk to her friend. The girls sitting there were not on the clock btw, I'm not even sure they were employees. After she was done talking, she finally finished serving the guy's food, and now it was my turn.

I stood there for a couple minutes waiting for one of them to take my order as this herd of people were walking around, back and forth doing god knows what, looking at me, then each other.. My patience was really running thin at this point. Finally one lady takes my order, as she is taking my order she says something to one of the girls that was gossiping, who was serving somebody in back of me. I didn't understand what the lady said to her because it was in Chinese or whatever they speak, but I did understand what the younger girl replied.. She said something to the effect of "I don't care, I don't care who voted or whatever". Right when she said that I knew she was referring to me as today is ELECTION DAY, and I was still wearing my "I voted" sticker. Regardless of her completely unprofessional, unpatriotic ignorant comment, I held my tongue and stretched whatever last bit of patience I had til the end of my transaction.

I am deeply disappointed that this person would make such a comment. It is every American Citizen's duty to go out and vote, that's why it is called a Democracy, that's how this country works. And being that it is a Democracy is the reason they get to have their restaurant and speak their language and celebrate their heritage. There is absolutely no excuse for they way they treat people, and no need to make such inflammatory comments.

I know this is a long review but I just want to encompass my experience and explain why, although I do enjoy the food/portions, I will not be returning here. I really hope they start treating their customers more respectfully because without customers any business will suffer. This place was never as bad when it comes to customer service, the younger girls I saw working there tonight had really bad attitudes, as if the feel they are above...

So, I called ahead of time to special order Kung pao shrimp and I repeated myself like 3 times and the girl asked me, "Kung pao chicken?" Told her no, shrimp. Then she pauses and says "ok" (brushes me off). Get there, they put chicken. As I corrected them, they made me wait almost 25 mins for shrimp... I got frustrated, they weren't prioritizing the order. Then it looked like they got angry so, I asked for a refund because I'm not feeding food with spit in it especially with covid-19 (gave me that vibe) to my family. As soon as I asked for the refund, my food was magically ready. Joke on them I still got my refund and now they are stuck with food that was special ordered. Have not gone back. Only way you can teach a business a lesson is by hurting their revenue and the reason I give 2 stars is because their food is ok for the proportion or else it would be 1. Ladies are not nice, among themselves they speak their native language and speak to each other while you are ordering, the only time they speak English is when they are charging you, they give you the recipe and say “sign here” they have lost this customer, I ordered a combo A and got only 3 chicken wing as my main dish, the lady serving turn my tray away while they serve my food and rude because when I asked for teriyaki sauce instead of sweet and sour sauce for my egg roll, they commented in their language to each other, there food is not top of my list and use poor quality meats there. Never again, I’m done going there because they don’t treat customers with respect and should speak English around customers and rather save my money then throw it in that garbage of food.
