This place is a national treasure. Its been a staple in Claremore for over 4 decades and for good reason too. The family that opened this business in 1974 was (and still is) a gift to this community. Bill and Jean were like step grandparents to all the kids who came in with their parents to eat the amazing chili cheese coneys. The hot dog buns are perfectly sized so that you never get messy and always soft with just enough chewiness. The chili and shredded cheddar cheese (or any other topping you might want) is always loaded with exactly the right amount. Besides awesome food, they happen to have THEE best soft drink ice in Oklahoma and maybe the galaxy. Not much has changed there besides the tables and paint job. One thing that has changed is the hours as it is only open for lunch now. I dont know the official story (wink, wink) but I think they had to shorten the hours so customers would stop eating coneys and frito pies all day long. When you go to NY you eat pizza, go to Philly you eat a cheesesteak, Maryland it's crab, Wisconsin its cheese, and if you come to Claremore you better get you a chili cheese coney from Carl's Coney Island in Ne-Mar Center... because its...

I've only lived in Oklahoma 12 years and have come to love the quintessential food of eastern Oklahoma "The Coney Islander" They look small, but are full of flavor. Fully loaded the come with mustard, onions, chilli and cheese. Soft buns made specifically for the propriety dogs. The chili, which I credit as unique to Oklahoma is bean free with a hint of cinnamon. It is a comfort food which its cravings will not be satisfied with any chilli dog NOT from an establishment titled, "Coney Islander" on the sign above the door. The tasty tamales, while not what you would find at a mom an pop place in Mexico are certainly better than most every US...
Read moreService was great, but I was very disappointed to see they used rehydrated onions. There’s just nothing that compares to finely diced fresh onion on top of a coney or frito pie. I, unfortunately, couldn’t even taste onion. I always get extra onions on my frito pies, and even still, couldn’t taste them. The chili tasted like wolf brand chili to me /: so while it was still good, it just didn’t have that Coney Island-er quality, in my opinion! All Tulsa natives know just what I’m...
