Farm House Ice Cream — Restaurant in Bridgeport

I eat a LOT of ice cream. Almost daily. The quality of the ice cream is below average, especially for an ice cream shop. I would compare it to a grocery store budget brand. There were many choices in 3 gallon (i think) tubs of unknown source. I don't think they make their own. Sad if they do. The flavor was OK but the texture was more icy than creamy. I did not see any evidence of ice crystals in the tubs or in my servings. I ordered 2 scoops in a cup. The scoop sizes were larger than average, almost baseball size. The salted caramel flavor had a liberal amount of caramel swirled in but was very icy in texture. The butter pecan flavor was a little less icy but had no pecans in it! I have never had butter pecan without pecans. The price ($5.35 with tax) would have been reasonable if it was good ice cream. My wife, son and I stopped here last evening to check it out. It's easy to find, just look for the line going out the door! It was very busy but the staff were keeping up with it. Their ice cream selection is great! Many choices for all sorts of tastes. They even have vegan ice cream (made from coconut milk and cream), sugar free cones, and gluten free cones. Fresh made waffle cones are a choice as well. Their ice cream is made at a creamery in Mt. Lebanon PA, and you can tell it's not factory made goods. Very creamy and satisfying. I had strawberry pretzel and Phat Elvis (banana ice cream with peanut butter swirl and cups), my wife had vegan chai tea in a sugar free cone, and our son had a vanilla milkshake. Atmosphere-4 stars- located in the Holiday Plaza Shopping center in Bridgeport WV this country style themed ice cream parlor is very clean and nicely decorated. The booths have a cow hide pattern that’s pretty cool.

Service- 4 stars- the girl behind the counter was very nice and efficient. It wasn’t too busy so she handle things very well being it appeared the only employee there.
