*This review is strictly concerning what happened last night. I usually have no problem with going to this establishment.
Last night I went here to work out. Upon arrival, I noticed no staff members were at the first check-in register, so I made my way to the second register, where Staff Member Chi Chi was intently engaged with something on the register screen. Not only that, but she was also eating a large and greasy eggroll. Unbelievable. Unprofessional. Insensitive. This was all taking place in public, behind the desk, and in a gym.
She and I kind of played an awkward game of musical registers because I wasn't sure which register she wanted me to go to, and when I walked to the one she was eating at, she told me, she would have come to me. Annyway, she one handedly checked me in. Her fingers were covered with grease from the eggroll.
I finished working out and went back to the desk. And, asked another staff member, who was the Manager-on-Duty? That Staff Member, Camilla, told me she was. I proceeded to tell her what had transpired when I checked in. She told me that the staff sometimes don't get a break, and they have to take one whenever they can. She said they are required to work, even during a break. I asked her since it is a gym, should the staff member be eating an eggroll at the desk? I asked her, why not eat something healthier at the desk, since it is a gym? She looked at me like I had lost my mind. Then I said, I forgot it is a no judgment zone.

Read moreI’d like to bring serious attention to the conduct of General Manager Shamela at this location. Her behavior toward a paying member was rude, belligerent, and highly unprofessional. It’s clear she has not adjusted to the responsibilities of leadership and is abusing her position.
Here’s what happened: • A guest visited Planet Fitness, enjoyed their experience, and immediately purchased a membership. • Upon returning to use the member amenities, they were verbally harassed by Shamela, the very person entrusted to manage this facility. • Instead of handling the situation professionally, she escalated matters, even calling the police and telling them her reason was that the member “had an attitude.”
This is not only unprofessional, but a clear sign of harassment, discrimination, and defamation of character. A customer should never be denied access to the services they pay for simply because a manager lets personal feelings override policy.
Shamela’s conduct shows a lack of emotional control, poor communication, and disregard for both customer experience and the Planet Fitness brand. No customer should feel targeted or disrespected because of who they are especially not African-American customers who deserve the same respect as anyone else.
Corporate should carefully review this incident. Either Shamela is removed from her position, or Planet Fitness risks losing the trust of its members and facing legal consequences for discrimination and harassment.

Read moreI have been a Black Card member at Planet Fitness for over 10 years and have visited numerous locations across the country. Unfortunately, this is the first time I have experienced such poor treatment from staff.
Upon arrival, I was informed that I needed to update my backup payment of which I was unaware. I explained to the three employees at the front desk that I did not have my physical card with me at the time but would update it as soon as I returned home. Despite this, I was told I could not use the facilities until the backup payment information was updated.
Determined to stay on track with my fitness goals, I was eventually able to locate my card information and update the account immediately. After resolving the issue, I proceeded to the StairMaster to begin my workout. Within a minute, the same staff member from the front desk approached me from behind the machine to address me. This interaction was not only discourteous, but also unsafe, as engaging someone from behind while they are actively using exercise equipment poses a risk of injury. A safer and more professional approach would have been to wait until I had finished or to address me from the front.
I respectfully ask that management review this incident with the staff and provide guidance on appropriate and safe ways to interact with members when concerns arise. As a long-standing and loyal member, I was deeply disappointed by this experience and hope steps will be taken to ensure that future interactions uphold the professionalism and welcoming environment Planet Fitness...
