Johnny's Big Burger is a great place for lunch, as most people in Clarksville will agree. Trying to find a seat during lunch hours is a difficult endeavor. Best to arrive before the rush starts around 11:30 ~ 12:00.
Johnny's is a small family-owned-and-operated diner, known for its simple, classic American food. You don't come here for exotic or unusual takes on the classics. You come here because you want a burger and fries our Founding Fathers would be proud of. Each item is cooked to order, guaranteed to be fresh for you, resulting in delicious, hot fries and juicy, tender burgers. Gone are the days when you ordered fries and secretly hoped they were only ten minutes old. Johnny's fries are so good, they make me wanna slap my momma. And I love my momma.
The atmosphere is great. Friendship and family is in the air, a staple to a family-owned business that's slowly been forgotten by corporate America. Whether you're sitting at the bar or in a booth (reserved for 2 or more!), you'll feel like you're at home in this cozy diner. The waitresses are a delight, efficient with their tasks yet still juggling everything to have a small word if you're interested to chat. And they know their business, too! Got a question? No need for Google. Flag down a waitress, and if she doesn't know it, it's not a fact worth knowing about.
The restaurant accepts only cold, hard cash. This can be a surprise to most who choose Johnny's out of impulse, as it is strange to see a restaurant go without the ability to pay for items with debit cards in our day and age. I see this as a trade-off. One of the charms of Johnny's, certainly a selling point, is its classic feel. The quality of service and food, the familiarity of owner-to-customer, and the warmth of the atmosphere is worth the necessity of carrying cash on-hand. Eating here reminds me of good times in life, and afterwards I find myself ready to take on life's challenges still ahead.
Johnny's Big Burgers is a rare treat in the world of food. Seldom does an American have the opportunity to enjoy one of the most important biological and social needs in such a comfortable setting: eating good food among friends and family, where even strangers are kind. Johnny's will give you that much-needed break to recharge and regroup from the world. Everyone should partake...
Read moreI had a really RUDE EXPERIENCE at Johnny's Big Burger tonite.. I tried to call in my order like I normally do.. I called three times no one answered the phone... but that's no biggie... I I've called before and no one answered but when I go there.. they're swamped.. so that's understandable.. I go in make my order.. tonite I go there.. but it's not not swamped so I decided to call again to make my order and just sit it in car.. so I call again but this time I'm looking thru the window and the girl at the counter looks at the phone and keeps walking... so I call again she does the same thing... so I walk in pick up phone off the counter and ask if no one taking orders on the phone... then she looks at me and gets an attitude and says she was taking order.. keep in mind in sitting here watching her thru the window so I know she is lying.. so of course, I'm annoyed because you lying to my face... and even if you a are busy, it only takes a few seconds to say "Hello.. this is Johnny's.. can you hold please".. none of this happened.. then on top of that she ignored me and refused to take my order... the cook had to take my order.. THEN ON TO OF THAT WHEN MY ORDER WAS READY SHE LEFT IT ON THE COUNTER... the cook one again had to stop cooking, grab my order and then check me out... TOTALLY ASININE CUSTOMER SERVICE because with me because YOU weren't doing your job.. I've been going to Johnny's for years and never recieved bad customer service EVER until today...Granted this rating is a one off.. but when you work in customer service and you do something wrong.. you admit it.. apologize and go on with your day... you don't ignore the customer that you already wronged then give them dirty looks and purposely ignore them when there order is ready... just saying... but the food was...
Read moreThe food was decent, the fried honeybun was great. When I brought our tickets to the counter to pay, the guy that was on the grill came to take payment. He took my payment and gave me the change, but he didn’t take his greasy rubber gloves off. I thought it was weird, or maybe a habit, whatever. He then did the same for the group behind me. He then grabbed some cardboard boxes, grabbed some other items from under the counter. He then went back to the office, came out and answered the phone, wrote down the phone in order. Then, with the same greasy gloves on that he took my money with and did all of those other things with, grabbed some slices of cheese and slapped those bad boys on a couple of burgers and just like that, he went back to cooking. What the burger and fries lacked in flavor, was made up for in dirt and “cash only” dust. While I may have some respect for the 5 second rule, I’d rather it be my 4 seconds of observation to determine if the surface will allow me to follow that rule. I wouldn’t keep a slice of cheese between a couple of 20’s in my wallet, then drop it on a dusty cardboard box while talking on the community landline phone, pick it up and throw it on a burger and serve it to my guests. The service was great though. The server checked on us the entire time, made sure the drinks were filled and everything. I had to leave the half eaten dirty burgers there though. They can roll them into the next batch of...
