Everyone needs to have a "go to" cheap but "nom nommy" delicious and reliable "hot spot." This is mine and the hubby's. Mostly for just the breakfast, bc you really cannot beat the All-Star Platter Special. Service is always served with Southern sweet hospitality, and "usually"....(minus Sunday mornings/brunch time), you get your food exceptionally quick. Hot, fast, fresh, delicious, and cheap.....you really can't go wrong. Some people call these little side dive restaurants, such as the Waffle House or the Huddle House, a "greasy spoon"....which makes one think that it isn't of any good caliber whatsoever. I was raised and grew up, for the most part, in the South. These restaurants smell like a memory from childhood, whenever I used to eat a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich and sip coffee out of the empty creamer container, to be like a "big girl," like my mom. All Waffle Houses have the same standard menu, however I personally prefer this one, instead of the others, because the service is always excellent, the bathrooms aren't disgusting (unlike some that I have seen before 🤢), and I haven't ever had any problems with my food or even my to-go orders. Whether you're pulling over to take a break from driving, or a local in Clarksville; this Waffle House is well worth giving a try. (Side bit of advice though, whenever there are signs for the blueberry or strawberry waffles being "in season;" I'd recommend steering clear and just going with their signature plain waffle or my fave, the pecan waffle. The reason: about 15 yrs ago, they would actually use the REAL fruit as a topping....now, sadly, they just use these frozen fruit "chips," which are supposed to mock resemble the fruit.....they are awful, and it COMPLETELY detracts from the warm golden waffle tastiness, that the Waffle House is known for having. You can try it, but this is my personal opinion, as an honest reviewer; so I hope it really helps someone, in the future, with their "foodie"...
Read moreThe food and ambiance was good but sorry to say the customer service suck. I got a waitress name Jessie. First of all she looks extremely unhappy to be their, she had me waiting for my order even when it was ready while was she chat it up with some other customers. To the point where i know all about her former job. A manger at luigi, that some Asian sisters own the place and one name Samantha and the list goes on. Another waitress was so nice she saw I was being neglected and asked what was my drink. I told her coffee, she made it and brought it over and louder let my waitress know she brought my drinks. Yet she still kept on yapping, then went and got my food which was cold by then and went right back to chatting with the customer behind me. Something was just off about her, like she's ready to snap or something. At this point I don't feel like spending my money to be ignored and be around such an unpleasantperson. So I called her over and say can I have my order to go. She left and didn't come back starting shouting some other people's order real loud and aggressive as if she wants to fight somebody. As soon as she spoke the noise hub noticable went down. People normally do that when something aint right and unconsciously you quitet down to see what's going on. Again i called the nice waitress over and say can you remind her that am ordering to go. The kind waitress let me know that you pay in the front. Smh. The whole process just left a bad taste in my mouth. Definitely won't go back their if I saw that passive aggressive and unhappy waitress name...
Read moreThe best things about Waffle Houses are their standard American menu and consistent quality and this visit was no different. Still I can point out several exceptional aspects of this, probably my favorite restaurant chain
Their waffles are the best. They are not an add-on to the menu; they are delicious. Getty one and eat the first quarter globe with butter, then finish or with syrup.
Their omelettes are the best because they are made correctly. Friends, you only think you have been eating omelettes at other restaurants when you have actually been eating scrambled eggs, probably with mix-ins. A real omelet comprises eggs that are whipped. Whipped, not scrambled. Start with that as your base and the mix-ins are not needed, though certainly okay.
A minor favorite of mine is steak and eggs. It's a hearty breakfast, the steak is a good cut, and not too large. You can eat like a trucker without over doing.
Those are my favorite reasons for going. If you're ever on a cross-country through the south and especially if you get hungry at two am, Waffle House is the...
