Parking was easy, we parked right in front of the place. It was in a strip mall, right off the highway. Perfect to grab a bite on the way to Philly or NYC. As you'll see, this will be the case.
It wasn't busy when we walked in, we sat at a table, seat yourself. This place is 1 person in the front, 1 person in the back, from what I've gathered. If it's busy, it'll take more time, don't cry, because this will be worth your time ya little baby.
I ordered a Victoria bottle. I ended up having two, because both were perfect temperature. The missing part was the lack of bar. No tequilas, only a bottle of Malibu what! They had 4 bottle selections (Negra & reg Modelo, Victoria, & Corona) and no drafts. I was pretty Debby Downer when I saw this, but...
Salsa was to my liking, cold with a spicy kick to it. The chips were fried hard and a little small for me honestly. They brought out 2 additional sauces, a creamy cilantro, and a chipotle. I hate chilpotle, so it was standard for that. The creamy cilantro was such a surprise, I haven't seen this anywhere up here. They crushed it! I used half of the bottle, it was that good! We also got the regular size guacamole. It was fresh, but was a little heavy on the cilantro, lacking a bit of salt. Guacamole is an item that we will all feel different about, but they had a solid foundation. I only needed to add little salt to get to my taste.
Steak Taco double corn tortilla was on point, great taste, you could tell that it was marinaded well. Loved the taste, although it was a bit dry until adding the Creamy Cilantro sauce. That sauce changed the whole game. Chorizo taco was right there with the steak, same, delicious, and you already know what happened when "that Sauce" was added!
Beans & rice were perfect. No refried, just pinto, and the rice was moist, just like we all like it.
Enchiladas chicken. I got the green sauce. Easily cut with a fork and the shredded chicken was moist throughout each bite. Cheese enchilada was creamy, but nothing special, it's about the chicken round here.
Flautas. Chorizo. These are amazing! Do yourself a service and go here and get the flautas, your choice of meat, do it! Go do it! Now! Perfectly marinaded chorizo, perfectly fried.
Authentic, awesome, and they do take cards. Found...
Read moreI have not actually eaten there. I was looking for beef tongue for the New Year Party. That's a staple for the Russians' for this occasion! Usually, I would buy it at a Russian store in Philly, but I have not been there since the pandemic struck. ShopRite also used to carry it, but not this year. I have called all the ShopRites in Delaware and nearby New Jersey. They were all out. After hours of searching, I was on the verge of giving up, when my phone brought up beef tongue burritos at Aureas Mexican Restaurant within five minutes from where I was. The server and chef I talked to were so nice and friendly! The chef chatted with me, described where they buy the tongue, how they prepare it, etc. And he agreed to sell me a package of beef tongue. Yes, I could have purchased a whole cow for this price, but can you blame them?! Here is a crazed Russian woman clamoring for beef tongue for the event within a couple of days and nobody else has it in stock. If she is willing to pay to satisfy her family, who are they to get in her way?! 😂 They have accommodated and I walked out with a two-pound package of already boiled beef tongue. My parents and husband were happy and that is all that matters to me! I will do it again in...
Read moreUpdate again: Kinda scuzzy. This place has taken a dive, and the food isn't what it used to be. Everytime I go, the menus get dirtier and dirtier and the food doesn't entice me as much as it used to. If they can't keep the menus clean, I don't want to know what the kitchen looks like or what's going in the food. Not sure I'll go here anymore. Bummer, too. I really used to like this place.
Update: Been back here many times since the review! Still amazing food, and just found a new favorite drink; Michelada! Sure, this place isn't much to look at, but their food speaks for itself and the waitresses are always so welcoming. Keep it up!
The salsa and chips themselves are a dead giveaway that this restaurant is awesome. Great food, great price and excellent service. Will definitely...
