Location Java Bean Café is an unassuming yet contemporary, nicely designed community establishment. Java Bean Cafe is located on 3533 Philadelphia Pike, across from Archmere Academy, and near the library and post office, at the heart of the redeveloping Claymont, Delaware. If you are from out of town, you’ll find Java Bean easily accessible from I-495, I-95 or Rt 13 (Governor Printz Blvd.)

Atmosphere From the moment you enter Java Bean, you feel welcomed. Thanks to the efforts and vision of the owners, the atmosphere at Java Bean is that of a community café where one can enjoy a quiet meal or make new friends.

Food The coffee at Java Bean Café is above average, and the espresso is excellent. I’ve only tried breakfast type foods so far, mostly because of the times of my visits. The food was expertly prepared. To my surprise I discovered “the house pickle” included with the breakfast presentation. The house pickle is a combination of several pickled and grated vegetables/roots, that add a lovely “umph” to the flavor pallet. Each time I visit I also try the house pastry. I cannot say enough about the delicious pastry. The portions perfectly sized. The taste is divine. Enough said!

There are quiet a few more items on the menu I have not yet tried. Rest assure, I’m planning to try them all, sooner or later… I’ll be sure to update this review when I do.

Cleanliness Java Bean Café is by far one of the cleanest did establishments I’ve ever been to. The bathroom smells fresh and clean like a five star hotel.

Prices I found prices to be very reasonable and possibly on the lower end of the scale. Certainly highly competitive with other food establishments in a three miles radius.

Recommendations If you are local to Claymont or North Wilmington, it's well worth the short walk or the short drive. I love accidental yet meant to be stories! My husband, bestfriend and I are traveling the East Coast for my birthday weekend. On the way from PA to VA we decided to stop for coffee and came across JBC! We saw the reviews were amazing and had to see what it was all about! We were greeted by Joe the owner! Super kind and oh so welcoming! He was playing a board game with some friends and celebrating Sondras Birthday and their one year grand opening anniversary! I asked Sondra when her birthday was and she said it was tomorrow! We share a birthday which was fun to find out and I loved everything about our interaction! Joe offered us to try some of their Asian fusion cuisine and gave us a sample of their noodles!! Literally some of the best noodles I’ve had!
