I love this place and we go here all the time. The beer is amazing and the atmosphere is great. I am giving it 5 Stars because I never really had a bad experience but am writing to talk about the service...
We frequent Deep River, we go almost every Wednesdays for Bingo and the girls are amazing. They move with urgency, are personable, have manners and are just genuinely into getting to know their customers. The service on the weekend has always been spot on as well and the service was top notch.
We went yesterday (Thursday 4/11) and there was a guy beer-tender and another girl. I have seen the guy before on a Wednesday and Kisch was running circles around him. Yesterday, the outside was busy, there was live music, the atmosphere was awesome as always, but inside was not that busy. A little line formed, and the guy moved so slow like Eeyore and the girl didn't move much faster. They both just stood there, emotionless with a blank stares on their faces. He looked like he just smoked 5 bowls and she just stood there smacking her gum with her mouth opened. I was kind of shocked because it wasn't like any of the service we had before.
Coming from someone who worked as a bartender at a club for years, customer service is key. It is not that hard as you don't have to make mixed drinks and not hard to remember an order you just took 2 seconds ago. When you are behind a bar, you shouldn't chew gum, but if you do, please close your mouth. When people are waiting in a line for a drink, and it is not all that busy, speak up, SMILE, and take multiple orders. Do some small talk with the customers to build a relationship. The bartenders here probably make pretty good money, but if you made more of an effort to showed some urgency, built some relationships, smiled, and use words like thank you and your welcome, you would make more in tips per customer.
That might have been one thing that urked me, after the girl ran my card, and gave me the book, she just goes, "Here". I said "thank you", no response, I said "Thank you" again, nothing, a said it a third time and didn't get a single your welcome. These bartenders have a great opportunity if they just showed normal politeness that comes with being in customer service, but if they don't want to be in customer service, they should probably find a new job.
It is a shame I am writing this because of one bad experience, but I will continue to support this awesome bar. This is for those who go in, and if yesterday was your first time, and the service was not great, give it another try. Try on a Wednesday or any other day when there are...
Read moreI’ll begin by saying I loved this space. Whenever I used to drink, I enjoyed their routine brews as well as their limited releases. The brewery is an open space that is accommodating for many groups, dog friendly, and family friendly for those with neurotypical children. There are guidelines for children posted around the brewery essentially instructing the parents that their children are their responsibility and to keep an eye on them.
My son has autism. I am very aware of my child and watch him constantly. One of the ways he processes his excitement and stimulation is by vocalization and moving around. I follow him around and ensure that he is safe and intervene if he approaches a table that is not in my party. I let him say hello and socialize, then usher him back to our group and wait until the process inevitably repeats itself. As a parent who often sees his child sequester himself from his peers and is often in the corner isolating himself with a book or toy, I consider it a blessing to see him an an environment that he’s comfortable enough in to be himself, socialize and have a good time, which is what he was doing tonight.
I was approached by a bartender tonight and essentially asked if I could contain my son and keep him with me a little better. Again, I was not sitting at a table letting him run rampant, I was following him around and removing him quickly if he was disturbing other parties by being near them. When questioned regarding what their idea of keeping an eye on your children is, we were told that they’ve had children climbing on the loading dock and running through the parking lot. It was raining tonight and my son wasn’t even outside, but we were told he was “running between the tables”. I guess the walkways between aren’t intended for pedestrian movement? I’ll admit he was running around and singing with my supervision.
I share this mostly for awareness to the staff. Sometimes there will be children enter your facility who are not neurotypical and require a little more stimulation in their lives to regulate themselves. It would be appreciated by the parents of those children to be approached with a little more grace and consideration that maybe there may be something else going on and not be made to feel like their presence is a disturbance or their child is less than because they do not quite fit into the mold of a...
Read moreI recently visited Deep River Brewing Company, and I had such a fantastic experience that I couldn't wait to write this review. This brewery truly exceeded my expectations in every aspect, from the quality of its beer to the welcoming atmosphere.
Foremost, their beer selection is outstanding. As a beer enthusiast, I appreciate the variety and craftsmanship that Deep River offers. The range of flavors and styles available is impressive, catering to all preferences. Whether you're a fan of hoppy IPAs, smooth stouts, or refreshing ales, you're bound to find a brew that suits your taste. The quality of their beer is exceptional, and it's clear that the brewers take great pride in their craft.
The facilities were also remarkable. The restrooms were spotlessly clean and well-maintained, reflecting the high standards of cleanliness upheld throughout the establishment. It's always refreshing to visit a place where attention to detail is evident in even the smallest aspects.
What truly sets Deep River apart is its family and dog-friendly environment. It's wonderful to find a place where you can enjoy a great beer while also spending quality time with loved ones, including four-legged family members. The staff was incredibly accommodating and friendly, making sure everyone felt welcome and comfortable. They even provided water bowls for dogs, which was a thoughtful touch.
Speaking of the staff, their warmth and knowledge enhanced my overall experience. They were attentive, approachable, and genuinely passionate about their craft. Their enthusiasm and willingness to engage in conversations about the fresh brews added an extra layer of enjoyment to my visit.
In conclusion, Deep River Brewing Company is a hidden gem that deserves all the praise it receives. With a fantastic selection of beer, clean facilities, a family and dog-friendly atmosphere, and a friendly staff, it's a must-visit destination for beer enthusiasts and those seeking a great time.
