I always feel bad leaving 1-star reviews, but people looking to eat in Clayton can find so many better options now. Before COVID, this place was amazing! I loved the toppings bar, the people were great, and the prices were reasonable. Today, that's all gone. Their only menu on the wall is appetizers and alcohol so we had to look through a paper menu we found on the counter. They raised their prices about 20% since before COVID. They took away their toppings bar and started charging for the toppings. We came at 1:30 on a Friday and they were empty except for the customer holding a bag and waiting. After a few minutes, the cashier came out so the customer ahead could be told she was given and charged for shrimp when she didnt want it. They told her too bad and took my order. We were charged for bottle water when we just asked for a cup and when waiting 20 minutes for the food, we stood around dried mud that covered the floor. They need to clean their dining room, charge transparently and staff the restaurant to handle when there are 3 or more customers. I highly recommend Don Betos, La Cocina, Fiesta Mexicana, or any other Mexican spot around. You'll find better pricing for more food and...

I had high hopes for this spot. This was recommended to me by a local who is from, and family is from Mexico. I am in Mexico several times per year across different states, and have family in Mexico. My family cooks authentic Mexican food.

This was a serious let down. I have never had any type of meat SO dry in my entire life. I don’t know if it’s the accessibility to good meat or the cooking, but it was in my honest opinion, shameful to what locals in MX would consider good food.

Everything is rushed, so I’m sure that has a lot to do with it. The agua frescas had triple the sugar added in MX (although I’m aware the sugar does vary by location).

The Birria was good - but seriously, it’s just so disappointing. I would never leave a review without really considering my bias. I’ve eaten at my family and other neighboring and local families homes across the country of Mexico. I cook it, my family cooks it, is Mexican (I also have family in LA).

The ambiance of the restaurant was great. There isn’t pride in the food here. I want to go back, but I...

This was our first time visiting. The cashier was very helpful and friendly. I ordered a steak taco, it had cilantro and onions on it. Also came with a side of radishes and cucumbers. I also ordered a brisket burrito, California style. My husband ordered a brisket taco and chorizo huarache. Everything was delicious. I had zero complaints. My husband only mentioned the flour for his was a little thick. So by end of it he just ate the filling. But said it was amazing. We will definitely be returning- many many things left to try! Also, every employee had a mask. Gentleman sanitizing tables while we were there and high chairs.

Expanded dining room is very well spaced out. Excellent food. Open spaces to walk w Chula & the chicken is made perfectly - Chula loves it & so do I! Give this place a shot; you'll be glad you did. 1st visit: had the steak burrito, grilled chicken & a couple chicken tacos. Bottom line up front: definitely recommend; I will return. They have a bar w accoutrements for your tacos y burritos. I like the "chunky" green salsa. It was the spiciest & had good flavor. The avocado sauce & chip salsa was a little citrus-y. The green sauce is mild w good flavor. I didn't try the rojo sauce; I'll check it next time. Often, the attempt to make it "smoky" results in a bit of a burned flavor... The burrito was excellent, as was the grilled chicken meal. The chicken tacos are for my doggo... She's always w me & she's a total carnivore... She definitely approves!! (= Service was excellent & food prep was quick. Give this place a try; you won't be disappointed.

First time trying this place out. Wow! I tried the corn quesadilla with chorizo and it was very tasty. Not to greasy and a good portion for a snack or light lunch. The green Chile burrito was also very tasty and the carnitas, well those were fantastic! Not too greasy and very tender. The beans and rice were homemade and delicious. I forgot to take a picture but rest assured you will to when you get the food, you’ll dive right in. Their flan was also very tasty, but the tres leches cake I was not too fond of. Not sure if that’s the usual recipe they follow but maybe I’ll give it another try a different day. Their fresh pineapple water is delicious and perfect on a hot day. Made from scratch and not too sweet like many places that overdo it. With all that said I hope you give them a try, your belly and wallet will thank you.
