I always feel bad leaving 1-star reviews, but people looking to eat in Clayton can find so many better options now. Before COVID, this place was amazing! I loved the toppings bar, the people were great, and the prices were reasonable. Today, that's all gone. Their only menu on the wall is appetizers and alcohol so we had to look through a paper menu we found on the counter. They raised their prices about 20% since before COVID. They took away their toppings bar and started charging for the toppings. We came at 1:30 on a Friday and they were empty except for the customer holding a bag and waiting. After a few minutes, the cashier came out so the customer ahead could be told she was given and charged for shrimp when she didnt want it. They told her too bad and took my order. We were charged for bottle water when we just asked for a cup and when waiting 20 minutes for the food, we stood around dried mud that covered the floor. They need to clean their dining room, charge transparently and staff the restaurant to handle when there are 3 or more customers. I highly recommend Don Betos, La Cocina, Fiesta Mexicana, or any other Mexican spot around. You'll find better pricing for more food and...
Read moreI had high hopes for this spot. This was recommended to me by a local who is from, and family is from Mexico. I am in Mexico several times per year across different states, and have family in Mexico. My family cooks authentic Mexican food.
This was a serious let down. I have never had any type of meat SO dry in my entire life. I don’t know if it’s the accessibility to good meat or the cooking, but it was in my honest opinion, shameful to what locals in MX would consider good food.
Everything is rushed, so I’m sure that has a lot to do with it. The agua frescas had triple the sugar added in MX (although I’m aware the sugar does vary by location).
The Birria was good - but seriously, it’s just so disappointing. I would never leave a review without really considering my bias. I’ve eaten at my family and other neighboring and local families homes across the country of Mexico. I cook it, my family cooks it, is Mexican (I also have family in LA).
The ambiance of the restaurant was great. There isn’t pride in the food here. I want to go back, but I...
Read moreThis was our first time visiting. The cashier was very helpful and friendly. I ordered a steak taco, it had cilantro and onions on it. Also came with a side of radishes and cucumbers. I also ordered a brisket burrito, California style. My husband ordered a brisket taco and chorizo huarache. Everything was delicious. I had zero complaints. My husband only mentioned the flour for his was a little thick. So by end of it he just ate the filling. But said it was amazing. We will definitely be returning- many many things left to try! Also, every employee had a mask. Gentleman sanitizing tables while we were there and high chairs.
**November 7,2020 Second time visiting today. I ordered a steak fajita wet burrito. It came with rice and beans. It was great. My husband ordered a spicy pork quesadilla with onions and mushrooms. He loved it. This place truly is authentic and you get so much food for such a cheap price. My burrito with rice and beans...
