Never have I EVER been so embarrassed in my life yet felt so blessed at the same time…. 😣
Helping Austin work at the shop this morning I caught myself getting extremely exhausted and it was about time for Emma Jane’s nap so I decided to head home and nap with her, knowing there was nothing at home to eat I decided to stop at Chargrill in Clayton to get Emma Jane some tenders and fries and I just wanted a burger and drink. I pull up I am the only one in line and I place my order…. I’m pulling up to the window and panic because I can’t find my wallet. I always have my wallet with me and I’m slowly pulling up to the window trying my hardest to find it, realizing I don’t have it I started trying to find any money I could just laying around my truck. After it felt like forever all I could find was $16 and my total $19…. I finally had to tell the lady to take off my burger that I couldn’t find my wallet and I was short on change. She steps away to grab a manager which I am completely beyond embarrassed at this point and breaking out in hives. Mario, the manager comes back and asked me how short of change I am and I tell him $3 dollars but it’s fine to just take it off the total and his reply is “we have to look out for each other in this world it’s no problem” and bypassed it and still gave us the order 🥹he truly was a blessing and tried to calm me down and not feel embarrassed even though I had hives and was drenched in sweat pouring off my face. Humiliation at its finest!!!!
I really dont know why I am posting this other than the fact of being 37 weeks pregnant and emotional, a toddler in my backseat both of us hungry, and just having an angel like him in a time of desperate need has me just sitting here in my truck crying. I don’t know whether to laugh at myself or still just cry…There are still good people in this world. The service I got today was amazing and I can’t thank him enough for his kindness

Read moreUnfortunately I have to give 2 stars on this review. With this being said I've always loved char grill and the location on Hillsborough St is the best. Clayton not so much. I went through the drive thru which was probably a mistake. When I got home the order was not correct. I was extremely disappointed because like I stated I've always loved char grill. First.. My hamburger was not freshly cooked. It was warm at best... The bun was also a little off tasting as well. Sandwich was not prepared the way I ordered it. No cheese(which I paid extra for), no Mayo( No big deal, I put it on when I got home). Customer service was good. The drive thru attendant was nice. The bottom line is when I'm paying over 10 dollars for a hamburger and fries I'd except alot better... Like the Hillsborough St location. The fries were good. After 2 bites of the hamburger I threw it in the trash. Disappointed to say the least... Update... 3/25 I'd like to say Ed(the owner) personally contacted me to address my concerns and his timely response and quick actions to resolve the issue is exactly why I will always give Char-Grill the benefit of the doubt and my business. Thanks Ed for the great service! I'm changing the rating to 4...
Read moreI’m a California resident and love my burgers. That being said, I wanted to try the best burger in the east and when visiting Clayton I came across Char Grill and decided to try it out. I don’t think I’ve scarfed a burger down so fast in my life. If I wasn’t careful, I would have lost fingers. You could literally taste the freshness with every bite. On top of that, the staff was extremely friendly (and patient) with me. Everything on the menu looked enticing and delicious. I actually ended up coming back here the next day with my wife and daughter and they equally enjoyed it. Southern hospitality really shines here and it made the whole experience more enjoyable. I don’t usually write reviews but this place had THAT kind of an impact. Whatever you guys are doing and whatever ingredients you’re using, please keep it up. It’s business ethics like this that keep us coming back. I will be thinking about Char Grill the entire way back home. See you guys next time...
