What kind of owner doesn't take the safety of his customers into account when they were made aware of the seafood allergy? Absolutely appalling that he disregards life in such a way. My cousin is a dear soul and he could had killed him with his negligence. From my cousin's wife Bailey:
I would usually NEVER do this but this could have been a life or death situation especially if someone other than my husband had a more severe reaction...This post is about the La Cabana Restaurant in Clayton, GA. My family and I have been eating here for years and have made friends with the owner and never had a problem as my husband has a severe shellfish allergy. Tonight my husband and I went and got him a burrito deluxe to go and after having my husbands order messed up twice already, then the owner and waiter assuring him that his food WAS COOKED AWAY from any traces of shellfish, my husband had a severe reaction after eating half of the food as we were driving towards Franklin to go to a movie. I turned around immediately and went straight back to restaurant and asked if I could receive a refund with the receipt AND food in hand and the owner was very quick to start raising his voice and causing a scene. He picked through the food and said he was NOT giving me a refund since all of the burrito wasn't there and humiliated me as I was asking him simple questions. He told me that even after they had told my husband that everything was cooked separately that it was not and told me that he had 16 hard working men in the back who don't change a thing. This conversation went on and on but I told him that I was never coming back to his restaurant and he threw his hands up and said "THANK YOU". Also, this was all during the time that a customer was with me at the counter waiting for his to go order and with a busy night full of people in the restaurant. PLEASE be aware if you have any allergies to anything that is on their menu, they DO NOT honor it even if they say...
Read moreFood so good even snakes want it! I'm eating my dinner and apparently a local garter snake heard about how good the food was and decided to check it out. He was waiting near the exit door when a guy left. The guy tried to stop the snake from entering by stepping on him. This made the snake angry so it rushed in and under the table next to me.
The table adjacent to me had a group of Rabun County EMS members and a Clayton policeman. The female EMS jumped to the rescue and saved the snake from the panicking snake stomping man. This also saved the rest of the restaurant from freaking out because a three foot snake came in. When the EMS lady came back in, the snake had bitten her. This probably happened because the man had stepped on it. I'm sure one day the EMS lady will be telling her grandchildren about how when she was younger she saved a Mexican restaurant from a vicious snake attack--or perhaps maybe not.
Generally snakes just want to be left alone and are harmless. This one just wanted to try some Mexican food. He has been escorted out back and after being stepped on probably won't be back.
Anyway, I had the Texas fajitas for dinner. They were good and a generous portion. Often at other places when you get Texas fajitas you are get three shrimp. My plate had seven. The chips were nice and crunchy and not all greasy like some places. The cheese dip and salsa had good flavor. Service was good...
Read moreMy family and neighbors have been loyal customers here for a combined decade.. Yesterday March 6 2024 ..we ordered take out this time... We spent around $40.00 and tipped $4.00 .. Once home we noticed the Flan was missing from our 2 bags of food.. The next day we called and was hung up on 2x.. So I drove there to get the Flan we didnt get.. The short fellow who is usually behind the counter remembered me as he should cause we do business there frequently.. I gave this man the oppirtunity to make good on this simple error.. He refused to take responsibility and insisted that it was in the bag ... So in other words he was calling me a liar... I went ahead an paid the $3.00 and change for an order of Flan that we paid for yesterday and again today... I cant believe this employee chose to charge me ....I am disappointed that the $3.00 flan was worth more to him than the loyal customer's he now has lost...and that I had to post this bad review for a restaurant that I loved and enjoyed... What prolly happened is there was another to go order out on the counter next to mine.. It must of gone with the next pick up where that to go order got a free order of Flan.. Either way the employee behind the counter should have taken the right solution I would think and gladly fulfill our order just to show he appreciates our loyalty... Instead he ruined it . now over $3.00 he has lost us.. How Pathetic...
