Sofia's Greek Grill — Restaurant in Clearwater

This is one of my neighborhood’s restaurants I have been visiting this place for years.. I am not very picky guy I like to eat just about everything. I visited multiple fancy bensy restaurants in the world five stars seven stars 2000 stars it doesn’t matter. I have eaten just about everywhere. But if you are in the mood for a quick snack dinner lunch appetizer in a Greek style , you came to the right place. I visited Greece on several occasions. It’s just beautiful there each time I walk to the restaurant I am welcome with a big smile this place is alive They know me by my name. This is a restaurant where they work very hard, not just to make money, but to keep the smiles on our faces. The food is always fresh delicious and although I still may not pronounce some of the items on their menu because they are written in Greek and I am Polish Anyhow, everything is just so delicious so each time I go there I order a different item and this place reminds me beautiful islands of Greece. And if you have not been in Greece, it’s time about for you to buy a ticket and see the land of beauty, ocean islands and fresh air.. sea food omg…everywhere…

I did have a privilege to talk to the owner. What a guy he does the stuff not just because he has to, but he does from the bottom of the heart and you talking to a guy who knows a restaurant business my family owned three restaurants in Europe my dad used to own two restaurants in Chicago. It’s nothing more then hard work and my heart goes to you guys but let me tell you each time I taste the food there is always consistency. It’s always fresh. The prices are reasonable. The service is Superior.. so if you’re on taste for a quick lunch quick dinner, you can come and pick it up yourself. You can order through different applications and you can have it deliver to your office or home… Let me tell you , you will not be disappointed. And if for some unknown reason you are disappointed with the service there…you will never find a restaurant in the world that will satisfy you.. you’re just lost. I wanna give them 10 star review unfortunately the Google has only five stars shame on Google.:) Keep up a fantastic job and like Arnold Schwarzenegger used to say… I’ll be back See you...

Ordered two gyros, they were tasty and weren’t dry. Well seasoned, well priced and the taziki and veggies were fresh. Got a Greek coffee with it. That was very nice.

My only gripe was I was the only customer in the place and somehow it took 15 or 20 minutes in and out. Thats not bad by most standards! But I’ve made gyros. Takes 2 minutes to prepare since the meat is slow roasting on a spit all day; no cooking. You just cut it off, add the taziki, onion and tomato and order is up. There’s no real cook time, just combining ingredients. Maybe warming up the pita but that’s it. There were a few to go orders so maybe that’s why, I don’t know.

The only thing keeping me from a 5-star is the lack of speed. If I had to think why, no one behind the counter was moving much. Felt like end of shift wind down. The cashier seemed more interested in her discussion with the line cook then getting my to go order into my hand. It didn’t sit for really long but it was a good minute while she finished her conversation and slowly bagged it, then asked if I was the gyro order. I didn’t mention I had a kid in the car, but I don’t know that I should have to. All in all it wasn’t the worst but worth mentioning.

Now that I think about it, I don’t wanna mess up the five star average for this but it should be addressed. Maybe incentivize more service focus and when it’s there, reward with a raise.

I ordered delivery first time customer. I ordered salmon plate w falafels and Tzatziki, with hummus . First, salmon arrived cold and raw inside. The tzatziki sauce tasted more like a sour cream based grocery store item rather than authentic Greek yogurt based . Finally , the falafels were extremely fried and greasy . I am not trying to be rude nor mean any disrespect . I am just being truthful. I didn’t eat the salmon nor the falafels. I support the area small businesses. Therefore, I did not request a refund . But wanted to share my review because I ordered from this business Only, due to the other reviews online. I thought I would give it a try , especially considering it’s a small neighborhood business. I was disappointed, Even though I will Not be a return customer, this is my opinion. The salmon was raw , falafels extremely greasy, tzatziki not tasty not as expected .
