A lot of people put up false reviews for this place because they decided they did not want guns in their bar. They did it with a snarky sign and people got butt hurt.
So here's the lo down on how they are as a restaurant and bar, and not an opinion on the extent to which 2nd amendment rights apply to private businesses:
Their beer selection is the best in Clemson. Tons of cans and bottles and lots of taps. They get some really great craft stuff in. Plus this year they started the 100 beer club where you get a shirt and a plaque if you drink 100 beers there. The bartenders love their beer and make some great recommendations.
Their food is bar food but they definitely step it up. Most things always have a little something something that takes it up a notch above standard bar food. Also their weekly specials are very good. Monday - $1 tacos, Tuesday - $5.75 large pizza, Wed -. $6.75/dzn wings, Thursday - burger night (
Read moreFor all out there who read the reviews for Backstreets, dismiss all the one star reviews out of hand. My guess would be 99% (possibly 100 %) have never been in the bar. They are just upset the owner doesn't want people to bring weapons into his bar. I guess they think drunk people with weapons is a good idea. Especially drunk college students, which is what the crowd is. Most rational people wouldn't. By the by, the second amendment originally had absolutely NOTHING to do with a persons rights to own/carry a weapon. Most of the one star people probably don't know that either. Good food, great beer selection and nice bartenders. Can you sometimes have to wait for your food? Sure! But you will encounter that at any restaurant that has 30 or 40 people walk in at the same time. People that have never waited tables or bartended don't get that. Service is as good as any place in Clemson! Best bar in Clemson! 2nd amendment rogues people can kma!
P.S. - My dad was a marine. Love the Marines, love the military. Have nothing against weapons. Love people with...
Read moreIMPORTANT: Non-locals please be aware that the bad reviews of this place are from outsiders who were offended by a wise-a## no CCW sign posted in early 2014, not the actual performance of the business. News of the wise guy sign, which suggested that people who carry while drinking are d-bags, went viral and there was a national backlash from people who didn't realize that the owner was really just being a wise guy. He is actually a pretty cool dude.
So my actual review: Are the wings great? Yes. Beer cold? Yes. Good staff? Definitely. Place actually decorated and operated by Diane Feinstein and Nancy Grace? No.
The pub features a great value yeungs & wings night. Also available are weelky deals on pizzas and burgers (they make some pretty amazing burgers).
The crowd is not too fratty, not too cowboy and certainly not very political.
And no, I am not taking a stand in the CCW debate by reviewing this business. As a libertarian I strongly support your right to keep and bear arms, regardless of how scary a certain variant may look to the...
